injuries suck big time, many commiserations and I hope you heal up soon.  Are you allowed to swim?

I have no idea what I would do if I hurt myself for real.  The worse thing that happens to me is my lower back goes out (dang that is almost like a real injury) and most anything is out of my reach.

Hello Team Skinny I recently decided to do something about my weight and found triathlon hopefully this forum will be a great motivator.  I am trying a 22 week couch to sprint program along with some other exercise from my " in shape " days.  I currently weigh 270 and am hoping to get to about 190 eventually.

Kiwi, I hope you have a quick recovery. Follow orders & don't push it too soon.  The extra time off will give you time to focus on eating clean, right?

Is it too late to join?  I'm part of the Halloween challenge but I'd like to work towards some smaller monthly goals too.  My starting weight is 141.2 pounds and I'd like to get to 137 by the end of September.

No. Absolutely no tri training what so ever! Limited movement and the only time I can take off that brace is when I shower!Frown

The 'Doc' feels confident that 4 weeks should just about do it. Funny thing is he mentioned I could do some upper body work outs and definately continue on eating right.Undecided

thought i better ask permmission, sailing can i return to the party. i assume weigh in on weds.
a little background about me, started the weight loss a few years ago at 240, managed to drop downn to 199 finished my first and only tri last year, then lost my job( i am happy about it btw) started school and now into my fourth quarter. but the lack of activity and reading GOBS of books and no training has brought my weight back up to around 230(not happy about that). so now i am back at it and hope the old fart leading this thread lets me in again. i promise i wont treat you any different thatn i did before, i promise.

my goal is 228, i am not going to stress to much about the weigh tloss i want to concentrate on training and eating right. with proper nutrition and training the weight will come off, but i also want to monitor my weight if that make any sense.

p.s. is enders still around.

Rob

Your in Kate and welcome.  We weigh in pretty much on Wed's,  but the key point is to weigh in the same time and day every week.

Is it too late for a "BIG GUY" to join?

I am new to BT. I used to run a few 5k's and survived a duathlon, but over the past year, I have really fallen off the wagon. I know some accountability would really help!

Kevin, thanks for the great post! It was kind of a "good news / bad news" deal for me. The good news is that I can really relate to part of your story; bad news it's the first half!

I'm 45. Like you, I have been a clydesdale most of my life. Also 6' 5", but I was bigger than you at 347 pounds. A year ago, I started with some light jogging, ended up finishing a few 5k's and a duathlon, lost 68 pounds(279), and things were great.

I then experienced a few life challenges (not making excuses), fell off the wagon, stopped running, stopped eating right, and have gained almost all of it back. FAT BOY IS BACK is an understatement.

So, this weekend, I have pulled out the running shoes and the bike. Blew off the dust and took them for a spin. It's not pretty, but it's a start.

Hi everyone, I am not to new to BT, but new in this forum hoping I can join too. I have been training for several races over the last 2 years. Weigh in this morning is 196, and I am 5'4, and wear size 16. I feel really fat, but I pack it really well I am told. To look at me, I am told I do not look like I weigh that. In the past, I starved myself to a size 5, and weighed 155. My training plan is packed, I could do better on eating, which I am going to do. Can not do the no sugar thing. I can't even set a goal for how much to lose. Any ideas on a plan?

Welcome ilucy,  I will get back to you later on plans.  However,  If you don't have a goal in mind then what is it you want to accomplish?  Oh yeah and starving is NEVER a good thing.  Small baby steps and cut out sodas junk food and crinkly wrappers...LOL.

I have a goal to be at least a size 10. Long term would like to see the normal 150 lbs for women. Shorter term, 180, right now at least below 190. First I need to log my food intake. I was following Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle program, lost weight. Had trouble eating all the calories they wanted. For a long time ate below 1000 cal a day, that did not work either. Today I will start loging my food......crinkley wrappers hummm protein bars?? I have trouble with meat.

Thanks

We can do this!  Start slow and work a little every day.   I have a folder on my desk top here at work with the title of  "Do I really need to eat that"  Inside   Fat Boy Pictures. It helps when I loose focus.

I have my second Sprint-tri next weekend but this weekend my son turns 21 on Friday and a Kenny Chesney concert here in Charleston on Saturday. It is going to be hard to eat right and limit the alcohol.  One of my personal goals for the fall is  4 drinks max per each tailgating event.   So I will have my tangerray with Fresca (2 points per drink).

Saturday morning I will swim and then bike ride to help me through the weekend.

Kevin

Weigh-in results for today.

251   No change!

No change is a lot better than any gain of weight

Lost a lb this week so glad things are going down again.  Hi Kevin, Kate, Chip and iLucy, my names Daisy and I'm a yo-yo dieter.  I gained 60lbs when pregnant and for three years, just lived with it.  Then my local gym did a weight loss challenge and I discovered a competitive streak I never knew I had and came second (lost by 5oz).  Lost all the baby weight but keep bouncing the fat plus and minus 10lbs or so, especially bad when on holidays when my self control goes out the window.  This is a great place for advice (get Saling to give you his protein shake recipes!) and moral support.  My mother-in-law arrives in a few weeks so I will need to rant a lot to stop my chocolate comsumption going through the roof.  I am hoping to run off the frustration of parenting in front of a critical audience instead.

It's our off season here and over the winter, I joined a local tri club and have been training with their novice squad which has been fantastic.  With only 8 weeks to go until my first tri with them, I'm determined to get the last 10lbs off.  One big movtivation is because I want to get a club tri suit and I want to look good in it.  So, today I constructed an "inspiration wall", well it's the end of the bookcase next to the desk where my computer sits.  I've put up the picture from my first tri in 2006 which is when I learned to swim freestyle, that was 25lbs ago.  I also have a pic from a tri I did last year and I'm 3lbs lighter than then.  Pinned up pics of inspirational people - friends who've done marathons, people from this site and a big one of the tri club looking amazing in their tri-suits.  So that's me,  look forward to hearing from you all again soon.

Well heck,  I am back up 1.6 lb's.  I am sure tomorrow I may well be 166...Just the way this magic works.  Like some of you I would swear that I am eating right ,  but I bet that there are little secrets that I am eating that I don't even pay attention to

Heya All!

Very quick report today cos having an absoultely mental day.
Last: 74.1kg
This week (and here it gest complicated): WW last night 73kg
my scale this morning: 72.1kg

Now I know where the difference is coming from: WW was in the evening, fully clothed including shoes and after drinking buckets of water during the day. This morning on the other hand it was after a shower and with less items on so I don't really know. I suppose the WW weight shows the what I really am because I'm not walking around all day long in next to nothing etc. but this morning's reading is just better. I really don't know. Probably better to stick with the WW results... Saling?

Have a good day everyone!
