I was thinking of doing the half. not up for the training time for a full.

looking at the website I'm not sure I like the one mile swim away from shore. That's a long way out in really deep water and very large waves can build out there.

How's everybody doing?

I start my 26-week to Ironman plan on March 16, but I'm currently doing a pretty good combination of another training plan and a winter maintenance plan. I feel like I'm moving in the right direction and getting in good volume.

So I want to do the full IM there, but have been reluctant to sign up as I am battling a calf tear and have been off of running for 4 weeks.  While I have been doing some swimming and biking, I don't want to invest that much money into this if I'm not going to be healthy enough to compete.
Any thoughts on if you think the race will sell out?

REV3 has a good refund policy and will let you defer to another race if you can't make it this year.  That being said I don't think the full will sell out early, although I'm not sure where they are right now.  I have a $10 off coupon in my logs, I guess it's not much when you're talking about 500 bucks, but atleast it's something!!

I'm kicking around the idea of trying the Aquabike... It sounds like it will be a great venue...

I am also pumped up about this race (my first IM). Last week my wife sent me a photo clip of the roller coasters and the people coming off that wet their pants. I love the idea that my wife and kids are excited about the park. This relieves some of the guilt I feel about training all the time.

thinking about doing the full--1st full, 1st marathon

would start matt fitzgeralds 24 week plan in a couple weeks, but have a nice solid base

I don't like the idea that the cost includes park tickets..but i guess there's nothing we can do about that

does any one think it would be a  good 1st IM?
