Subject: RE: anyone doing the cedar beach tri? Last years swim was BRUTAL. If you heard about the swim at the Rhode Island HIM this year, the swim last year was identical. White caps and huge swells. But there's just a good of chance that it can be very calm. They shortened the swim (which SUCKS IMO) to a 1/2 mile from 3/4. The Bike course is decent and very hilly, with a bombing long descent at the end, and I'm very partial to this bike course and swim because I've been training here for two years now; I also like the race organizers and am affiliated with them through my Tri team ... but for me, it's just a lot of money for such short distances. I'm also racing the Montauk HIM a week prior. I did the same last year, and then raced this Sprint a week later and it sucked cause I was not even close to recovered, and dozens of people passed me who would never do so on a normal day. But whatever. If you don't mind paying 95 bucks for a Sprint distance race, then I would recommend it. If I Recover better from Montauk (which this year it'll be my 5th HIM as opposed to only my 2nd last year and I've been recovering faster and faster now) I might -- might do it again this year. |
