Hey all!

So, I'll be running IM St. George on May 1st.  The training guide has me running a HIM 7 weeks prior...but right now, I can't find a HIM 7 weeks prior.  Is it because it's too early in the season and there just aren't any?  Or, should I anticipate dates being announced sometime in the coming months?

From what I can see, the only option is the California 70.3, but its only 4/5 weeks out.  I assume this is too close to an IM?

Any chance new events get announced, or should I just plan on "staging" my own event?

yup, you're not going to find one at that time of year.

I did a HIM 5 weeks prior to IM, not ideal, but OK, I did it pretty easy.  I didn't taper for it, gave me a few days to recover, then a 2 week build, and a 2 week taper.

Personally, I did the HIM because I wanted to, not necessarily for IM training.  I certainly wouldn't do an entire HIM distance worth of training in one day, maybe 1/50/5 at the most.

I wouldn't do the Cali race and would propbably just drop the HIM from the plan.  Go with an added long ride.  Make it a relatively hard one.  Do a run off the bike if you want.

It can be good for many people to do a race pre-IM.  Though this is largely from a mental preperation/confidence perspective.  There is really nothing to "practice" in a HIM that will prepare you for IM.
