Overall Rank = 211/575
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 8/50
Pre-race routine:

Woke up and choked down some oatmeal, had a cup of coffee and hit the road. Car thermometer said it was 36 degrees when I left! Brrrr! Had to dig out the ear covers and gloves for this one. Dropped my stuff at the gym since it was adjacent to the race, which was handy. Ran into my friends, picked up my number....
Event warmup:

Ran about 10 or 15 minutes with Amy....glad we did that....it totally helped my performance!

Comments:

62 of 305 females overall. 8 of 50 in my age group.
I started with a group of my friends...but once we went through the starting line I pretty much took off (too fast?) but managed to keep up the pace and even get faster for the 2nd half. My friend LeeAnn caught and passed me about 4 miles in, but I didn't feel like I had to beat her so I kept my pace that was comfortable with (amazingly, under 8 min miles for the 2nd half!). At 6 miles I got a side cramp but just kept pushing it, as I knew I was going to get another PR....and I took 4 minutes off last year's time and 2 min off my 10k PR from a couple of weeks ago. Despite feeling sluggish this past week, I guess I've been doing something right for my speed! It was fun to see Ann and Steve cheering me on from the Salmon Days vendor stalls!

What would you do differently?:

It seems that next year I will have to run a 10k with a time in the 40s. Scary! Not long ago I was hoping to 10k in an hour.
Post race
Warm down:

Chatted with friends and family, drank some water, went to the kids' race with my boys. I ran 1k with Spencer, so that was my cool down. It was his first running race and he did pretty darn good!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I can't say that I felt slow at all today!

Event comments:

I just love this race...very community-oriented, always lots of friends to run with and hang out with....overall it is excellent, and a good way to see how I've improved year to year.

Damn, you are getting crazy fast, lady!! It'll be neat to see what you can pull off in the half mary in a couple weeks. Congrats on the major PR! And those sub-8s!

Your boys are insanely adorable and they look like they're having a ton of fun. You've taught them well, Mom.
