foolproof - 2009-11-06 5:07 PM Just finished baking Red Velvet Cupcakes w/Marshmallow icing, Banana Bread muffins, Mini Pecan Sticky Buns and Blue Cheese Popovers for the Tri-County Humane Society Adopt-a-thon Bake Sale.

I know that's mean for everyone training ... but, it's for some reaaaaalllllyyyy cute little fuzzy guys and gals that need to find homes!

(Shyly raises hand)...  uh, Miss, I've been orphaned for like, 8 years almost...(sniffle)...

Great things this week: Actually, there are so many, I'll choose the top few!

1. Got the job I'd been hoping to get. I'm currently working in another city so have to be away from my husband for 3 nights a week. That was biting hard, given that we've just been married a month...
2. Found out my sick cousin, who has a serious kidney condition, is well again for the minute, which is a great relief.
3. Did my first proper brick workout today, with 53 minute bike followed by 19 minute run, so I'm feeling really stoked about that.
4. I live a life full of abundance and joy and I'm grateful for it every day.

And, I've found it such a giggle hearing about children wearing their snorkel masks and goggles in the shower! Don't they just have the joy factor sorted in their lives? Hilarious!

I got our project to pilot before our holiday freeze period.  The project is to upgrade our pinpads to 3DES and put in an electronic signature capture system in over 3000 retail locations across the country.  I got dropped into this project late and it looked hopeless so this was a big win.  It was stressful so I missed two days of workouts this week as a result.

This morning I got a PR on my 10k run.  I ran just under a sub 10 min mile.  It was a 12 min improvement over my 10k time in mid Sept. so I'm excited about what I may be able to do by the Black Bear OLY in June. (8's would make me happy!)

My daughter brought home her report card and her lowest grade was a 90%.  On the same day, she won concert tickets to see Daughtry in Reading, PA.  She got two VIP passes, got early admission to watch the sound check and got to do a quick picture with him.  She was so happy, she cried.

The boss three levels above me agreed to write a recommendation for me for graduate school.

I re-worked my budget for an anticipated take-home pay cut in January and I will not struggle nearly as much as I thought I would.  I will not have to depend on my parents to help me pay my bills.  If I really do well with following my budget, I may even have enough money to race 1-2 cheap races.

That reminds me of the time I got my first birdie.  I chipped it in from off the green and my Dad (who wasn't paying attention) asked me where my ball went and I told him "in the hole".

Pfft, I usually always shoot just under 80.  Then I add in the back nine and my score goes to hell.

  1. My son will participate in the 6 and under category at his first swim meet (back, breast and fly) on Saturday

That's incredible!!  I have a six year old that swims with a snorkling mask! (also wears it in the shower but that's another story).  I don't think I've ever seen a child so young do a stroke like FLY!  Good luck to him!

He is on a swim team and it isn't as pretty as it could be, but he is trying.. LOL

He wears his spare goggles in the shower, so your son is not alone!

Here is a pic as he wins his freestyle race.  I got his meets mixed up and he is only in the fly and back for this meet.  It was so cute to see his fist pump at the end.

My 7 year old stopped a penalty kick, and his team won their game.  More of a good thing for him, but goalie is a tough job for little kids.  They're not physically big enough to cover the whole goal, they get blamed for every goal and they're under a ton of pressure.   I felt great for him!

I talked to our 13 y/o son about the birds and the bees on Sunday after church. I muted the football game and he looked up from Facebook Farmville a few times during the conversation like "Yeah, cool."  He's a good kid, a good student, and an athlete (lacrosse), so he wasn't being cockey.

A few times he looked up and his eyes got wide. Later, we drove together to a b-day dinner and talked some more and I think we felt really close. Cool dad / son time.  My parents never did that for me.
