Sunny
Total Time = 1h 00m 49s
Overall Rank = 1097/
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 94/111
Pre-race routine:

Woke up 0530 to have plenty of time. Showered, ate 1/2bagel w/ PB, stretched and took care of business. Woke up very tight in the hamstrings so added some advil to help.

Went over my plannted tiems and splits in my head to make sure I could hit my goals like I wanted to.
Event warmup:

A little high strides and some light running to warm up and loosen up. Very tight in the hamstrings.
Run
  • 1h 00m 49s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 09m 49s  min/mile
Comments:

Started very easy and let what seemed like the whole crowd pass me. Pretty defeating when just starting, but I knew I needed to hold my pace. Slowly started working the pace up.

Climbed the "highland ave" hill and started setting up for my finish. At mile 4 started picking it up to get to the finish.

1/9:41, 2/9:41, 3/10:09, 4/9:46, 5/9:17, 6/8:59, .2/3:13 HR - AVG167, MAX176 Finally negative split
What would you do differently?:

#1 - staying cool. I wore long sleeves and shouldn't have. The sun came up and the temps really started picking up.

#2 - Figured out why my hamstrings were so tight. Really affected the pick up I had.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked through the "cool down shute" grabbed a water, and ran back to meet up with the missus. She was roughly 1.5mi back, so I was able to take it easy. Met her and continued to run and finish with her.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Tight hamstrings and soreness on the pickups

Event comments:

Water stops at 1.5mi & 4mi. Great race!

I told her we'd run it in after she mentioned she walked through almost a mile. Yea, it was downtown very similar to the powerman du earlier this year.
