Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 6:15, got dressed, packed car, ate oatmeal and drank some water. Out of the house by 6:50. Thirty minute ride to race site.
Event warmup:

None really. Spent all my time setting up transition area.
Swim
  • 11m 16s
  • 640 meters
  • 01m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

This swim was much better than Kinetic however I was very winded at the end. I took about 30 seconds in T1 to catch my breath.
What would you do differently?:

Do some high intensity intervals in my training to avoid being so winded. Also, I need to learn to keep my form throughout the whole swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 43s
Comments:

As mentioned earlier, I took 30 seconds to catch my breath. Also, I could not get my wetsuit off of my ankles. I should probably practice putting on shoes while on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Get wetsuit off faster.
Bike
  • 46m 15s
  • 14.5 miles
  • 18.81 mile/hr
Comments:

Started the bike riding at 22-23 mph and it felt comfortable. After we turned off of the main road we were hit with a pretty stiff headwind.
This really slowed me down. I went all out but my legs were dead. Breathing was fine
What would you do differently?:

I need to get out on the bike more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 33s
Comments:

Decided to go sockless on the run. When I slipped on my shoes the tougue or insole were bunched up in my left shoe. I needed to remove it and put it back on. This cost me about 25 seconds.
Run
  • 28m
  • 3.5 miles
  • 08m  min/mile
Comments:

My legs were dead and breathing was labored. I just pushed myself along at what felt like a snails pace. I had nothing left in the tank.
What would you do differently?:

More Bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for JC to finish and then ate some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitness

Event comments:

Very fun course. Small but well run triathlon.

Sounds like you had a good time, hope it was warmer than at Kinetic. Are you going to make it down for Osprey in October (same general area)?

Great race, congratulations! I can't imagine ever running an 8 minute mile even with fresh legs! Sounds like a nice race course. Good job!
