Just saw that they updated their site:
Duathlon: February 28th, 2010 (2miR / 10miB / 2miR)
Tri #1: April 11th, 2010 (500mS / 10miB / 2miR)
Tri #2: May 16th, 2010 (500mS / 13miB / 2miR)
Tri #3: July 11th, 2010 (525mS / 15miB / 2.5miR)

Tough for me as the Duathlon is the same weekend as Mardi Gras 1/2 and Tri #1 is the same weekend as the new Oxbow Tri and the weekend before NOLA.  Not sure about doing a sprint the weekend before my first HIM.  Very glad they brought this back.

X2 on the conflict with Mardi Gras Half/Marathon. You think these RDs would check the calendars first, especially with MG being one of the biggest two or three races in the state.

Anyone hear about which duathlon and triathlon have been designated as the state championship races for 2010?

The April 10, 2010 Oxbow Triathlon has been named the Louisiana State Triathlon Championship race for 2010

Don't know about the Duathlon.

Technically not renamed.  Andy Kennedy is the RD for the Oxbow Tri.  The group that did the LA Tri is changing hands and last I heard planned on holding it later in the year (I hope they do, would be nice to have another race closer to home, would someone please hold a Tri near or in Baton Rouge that is not Kid/Women only!!!  Please!!!).  Evidently the Oxbow will be the same swim, same transition area,  similar bike course but the run is planned to be a different course.

There are a couple of guys in Houma that are talking about putting together a couple of races (1-sprint and 1-Olympic). We have plenty open water options here.  I 'll keep you guys posted if we ever get it off the ground.

Cool, we could always use more south Louisiana races. Let me know as soon as it firms up. I also head up an 80-member tri club here in Lafayette, if they want I can let them pitch their races at a meeting.

Just curious, but where can you have an open water swim in Houma? There was a super sprint at Lake End Park last year, great venue for a race. They could have easily expanded the course to make it an Olympic distance race.

I work in Houma and would be willing to help out with the race.

How do you become a member of your tri group.  I'm relaitevly new to the sport, started last year with the Games mini tri and the Sugar Man, but hope to do the HIM this October in October.  I'm looking to get together with a group if at all possible.

Thanks

Go to our website, download an application, and mail it to me with a check. Looking to have our first meeting sometime in the next 30 days and possibly schedule a group OWS in February.

At this point I am assuming that this won't be wetsuit legal.   Oh well, see you all on Sunday.

LOL, I just saw my last post.  It was wetsuit legal and yep I was one of those schmucks who wore a wetsuit......and ended up taking 1st in the swim leg for my AG.  Not expecting T3 to be wetsuit legal but I am bringing mine just in case.

Anyone know a cheap nearby hotel they recommend?  Tired of getting up before 4am to make the drive.  Wouldn't mind sleeping in a little race day.  Not much of a camper prefer a room with a bed and A/C.
