Dueces wild 2010

Great race, did it last year, doing it again this year.

I think I'm in for the HIM - first time at this race for me.

I am doing this race. This will be my first HIM! Can't wait!

Awesome, good to hear!  Me and another guy are planning on doing the race, probably will head up there sometime before to ride the route.  Ill make another post when we decide on a date.  It'll be my first HIM as well. 

This might be my favorite race, they do an awesome job and it is a nonprofit.

Just registered for the XTERRA.

Absoloutely not. They are trying to get people to do both, but sorry, when the schedules run on top of each other like that for the majority of people one of the races is going to loose. There will probably be a few that try it, but I doubt anything to increase the numbers. It's 6 hrs from Farmington to Show Low, and Farmington doesn't wrap up until around 1 PM. So I won't be going to 4 Corners this year. Deuces is a much better course and a better event, and I'd rather not impact my performance at Deuces. Deuces is also in my XTERRA region, where 4 Corners is not, so that's another plus to going to Deuces.

I've done it for the last two years. I'm out this year. My wife is sick of spending our anniversary in Show Low.

It's a great race. Here are some comments:

1) Expect the water to be cold I was perfect with a double cap, too hot with a neoprene cap.
2) Be prepared for flats. I've flatted both years and saw a number of other people on the
side of the road. Don't plan your whole race around a "no flat" strategy.
3) On the bike don't expect for the port-a-potties to be right at the aid stations. There is
one for every aid station but it could be a little ways past it. That wasn't fun riding the
first year when I missed one.
4) It gets windy in the afternoon. Glasses are a good idea on the run.
5) You're at altitude. Make sure you sunscreen at T1. They haven't had sunscreeners when
I've been there and you can get very crispy.

My wife will be due with our 3rd boy right around then. I will have to wait to see how things go, but I really want to do the XTERRA again. That was a blast last year.

awesome race...this will be my third year up there... i did both races last year... half and xterra... very fun...
