Pre-race routine:

My pre-race routine consisted of driving kids to basketball games. Thru a piece of cold pizza down the gullet on the way to the Petit. Drank lots of water.
Event warmup:

Lap around the oval.
Run
  • 37m 59s
  • 5.03 miles
  • 07m 33s  min/mile
Comments:

Had a blast running with Clint, Amyjo and Nicole. I was happy with the way we decided to run it. Each of us running no more than two miles at a time. Sure was nice to run as fast as I could for short amounts of time. Didn't know I had sub 8's in me. Felt like tossing my cookies after the first mile. Definately went out too fast. I believe that was a 7:16 mile or something crazy like that. Took it easy on my first lap of the next legs to ensure equilibrium while picking it up for the last two of each of my legs. Now if only I could do sub 8's all of the time:) Great to see the Donkey strappers that came to cheer us on. Pete, Peggy, Travis, Sandi, Lara, Joe, Stacey, two Kims, Bob and Craig . Not to mention the DjDavey and BScharff families. So many comments about the Donkey "there's another one" and had some recognition from Sgoehner's cousin because of the Donkey. Gave it my all on every leg of my race. Clint gave extra as he ran a "cool down" lap when we were done...unbeknownst to him. Quite happy with our overall result.
What would you do differently?:

Do a few more speedy workouts before such an event.
Post race
Warm down:

Gathered at the finish line to watch Clint come in. Photo's with yummy smiley face cookies...compliments of DJ...and general goodwill. Gathered our stuff, tried to find standings to no avail. Went to get some food, nothing left. WTF? We were the 11th team done. I said "any banana's?" To which I had a reply "we have more, but they are for tomorrow". WTF?

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My very own weight

Event comments:

The race was wonderful. Customer service, neh. Woman at packet pickup was snooty and didn't have answers to my questions. No food after the race and we weren't too far down the count. Was told standings were out in the hall...nothing but the earlier half mary races. We were there for a half hour after we were done even. Didn't know where awards were being held or handed out. Didn't even know we were suppose to get something. I have emailed the race director and have not heard back yet, but it's only been two days. We shall see.

One of those people is not like the others ... something about that tall guy not wearing a Donkey shirt visibly.

Hmmmmm, some bad 'tudes to be had by the staff - that's not a good thing.

Nice job on the sub-8's!!!  WOOT!
