Run
Comments: Raced well. I went out strong for 3-4 miles, tried to hold on in the middle miles and finished the last 4 miles strong. What would you do differently?: I was still a little tired, but it was not an "A race": just a training race. Post race
Warm down: Ran back to my car for cool down, stretched & hydrated, put on dry shirt (it was COLD in a wet shirt). Then went back to the "runner's village" for some goodies & food. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training and guts. Event comments: Nice central downtown course. WAY WAY too expensive at $60 (late registration price). No real food provided at the finish (you could BUY real food), no schwag in the bag. I was given a free pair of Keene sandals (for my wife) that probably offset the entry fee, but that was from Keene, not the race. I will NOT run this race again at this price! Oh, to race with a taper some day!!
My pre race routine was to hit the snooze button like 11 times! Then wolf down two bowls of oatmeal and scram.
Did manage to run for 15 minutes and stretch. A better warm up than usual! I was really stiff the first two miles on Friday's run - and I remembered that. I think this was a huge help in the race because I felt the hammies start to tighten a little when I was running FAST downhill, but they held and I could actually run! (After I failed to warm up or stretch down at Surf & Turf and my legs were very sore, I should've gotten it right here!)
