Run
Comments: Run went well. Ran with Trini for the first 15 miles or so. Felt smooth and could tell that I was starting off slower than I have in the past which was the intention. This strategy definitely paid off later in the race. Trini and I split up at around mile 15 because she was tiring and I really needed a bathroom with the idea that we would meet up after I took care of my business. Unfortunately that never happened. Legs felt good until around mile 22 at which point I really started to hurt. Unlike past marathons I was able to keep the legs going and kept running this is likely due to doing my long runs with Mike (the other Mike) given he never lets me rest. Finished well and was am very happy with the time. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This is the first marathon in which I have performed up to my training. My training could have been better but this was definitely the best outcome I could have expected. Absent some stomach issues I may have even PR'd. Post race
Warm down: Walked around and looked for Trini. Went to Rubio's and caught up with my friend. It was great to run with her and even better to have a friend at the race. LA is up next. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training but other than that I did the best I could. Event comments: This is my sixth time at this race (4th marathon) and as always it was a well run and very organized race. Last updated: 2010-02-07 12:00 AM

Got up early to get to the start early. Clif bar and water for breakfast.
No warmup unless standing around in a trash bag counts. Chatted with Trini.
