I guess I'll have to have another DC while I contemplate the deep meaning of this thread.....and oh by the way, I'm with the other regular DC drinkers, DC w/ Slenda sucks, way too syrupy.

The only problem I have with DC is that it's a diuretic. Have to run to the head every 30 mins. On hard workout days H2O is the only thing to down.

I gave up Diet Pepsi earlier in the yer and it has made an unreal difference in my life. I was drinking 12-13 perday...yes per day and no water or anything...just 12 diet pepsi's and 3 or 4 mtn. dew's for good measure...

Now I have one occasionally and my body does not like it at all...WATER AND PROPEL (when I want a little flavor) are the nectar of the gods!!!!!

>>And re: the Wal-Mart analogy -- I think what people put into their bodies is a little different than where they shop, ya know?<<

yep. Bad analogy, just made me think of walmart for some reason.

A thousand pardons.....I'm not being very nice, especially to a new user here.  Is it Friday yet??

NO SODA of any kind, gave it up about 2 years ago. Don't miss it at all.
Daily beverages include Coffee, Green tea, Water, and Beer.
Accelerade when working out or racing.

I gave up fizzy drink about a year or so ago, its a complete addiction.   No coffee for me either but I've never drunk coffee I just don't like it.

I drink water and the occasional 100% fruit juice if I want flavor or energy/sugar.

Since then I've had the occasional coke if I'm out for lunch or dinner or drinks and I just don't seem to like the taste of it like I did before. I couldn't go a day without at least a can of coke.

I gave up drinking caffine Jan 1 of this year also.... My blood pressure was creeping up to high normal and I figured that was the main reason... I still eat chocolate at times but that is like a 95% decrease in caffiene for me.

I noticed I sleep better and GI wise its much nicer now also.....

Now everything is clicking along ....

My morning coffee is my only true addiction, don't think I'll ever give it up. It's a ritual, I actually grind my own bean every morning, the aroma of brewing coffee - awesome. The rest of the day I drink tea and water. While the Accelerade is used during the race, after the event, our running group always has a celebritory beer. I don't think we'll be giving that up anytime soon.

Is beer a fizzy drink?

atta girl! i think we must be the only people posting now - wacky Hawaiian and Australian time zones!

so am i assume that "Oz" is a term for Australia? hadn't heard that one before.

have you read the book "In A Sunburned Country" by Bill Bryson?? It's fantastic... made me want to visit your country even more than I already did!

Yep it seems pretty quiet around here now.

oops yep Oz is an abbreviation for Australia. Aussie, and Ozzie etc.  we tend to shorten everything.

I haven't read that one but I have read umm I think it was called A Walk in the Woods about the Appalachan trail (sorry if spelled that wrong) and one about a walk in England, made me want to go and see/do both of those.

CitySky - 2005-06-16 4:35 PM So Bill, are all the unrepentant lip-smacking addicts in this thread firming up your resolve, or weakening it? (I'll check back in right after I go get another cuppa coffee...)

Feeling.....very....weak.....must...have....

Yup...Well he doesn't like to drink it he just likes to playing the box...he has grown and can't fit in it anymore...but its really funny to watch him try   It was just the perfect picture given my addicition to diet coke.  What could you do you just HAD to drink that coke..I'm with ya...All I can say is its one of the few things I am eating/drinking right now that I actually like and I'm not giving it up.
