Hey, I am posting this because I am not very experienced in tri bikes but am looking for one.  I found a used Quintana Roo Caliente.  It is a 2005 with Carbon fork and rear stays. Complete Dura Ace drive train. Ultegra brakes. Vision bars with upgraded Vision levers. Upgraded tri extensions with Cobra T2+ CARBON bar extension added. Shifters upgraded to Dura Ace. FSA PRO CARBON crank upgrade. Tri Carbon seat. Carbon seat post. Upgraded Carbon head stem. Shimano pedals included. New tires (less than 10 miles on them).
It is being sold for $1400 and to me that looks like a good price for all of that.

I just wanted some input from some knowledgable folk so I came here.  Any input would be great, as in if this is a good deal or not.

First, "upgrades" on bikes are like upgrades on cars... they cost a lot and sometimes they are a big improvement, but what they don't do is add to the value.

That said you've got a 6 year old bike hovering in the price range of some very good "entry" level tri bikes (the P1, S32, tequilo, etc) and some great road bikes.

First I would get a fit done... your position on the bike (and optimizing that by buying the *right* size / brand) is going to be 100% more important than the rest.

I say nay to the QROO.

Good luck!

It's actually a very good bike. The Caliente 2005 is the same frame as QR sells today as the Seduza, and nothing out-dated about it.

I think the ad might be misleading... first, upgraded to Dura-Ace shifters... well, the only bar-ends shifters Shimano makes are D/A...

I would say that $1400 is a bit much for the bike, but not by much.... if it fits, you'll get an awesome ride!

Could have been some of the generic bar ends like those that come on the entry level Felts?  So it could be possible they were telling the truth.

I got an extremely good (and unusual) deal on the exact same bike.  I think 800-1000 would be a better price.

The 2005 Caliente is is aluminum and the current seduza is carbon.  Also, the frames don't look similar.  The none aero seat post on the 2005 Caliente is the first thing I noticed.

The Caliente is a nice bike, but it has 5 years on it.  $800 would be a deal and $1000 would be normal in my opinion.
