Total Time = 2h 54m 37s
Overall Rank = 129/2766
Age Group = Men 30-40
Age Group Rank = 44/683
Pre-race routine:

The race start/arrival area was 2km away from where I live so I could stay at my place until 1hr before the start, relaxing, having a nice breakfast, etc.
I decided to register for the race only the day before since I am preparing for HIM and IM season and I did not do any long runs since last november. The longest runs I have done in the last few months were max 25km but I did a lot of long rides up to 3h30 so muscles were prepared to long efforts.
Event warmup:

The race was at 8.30am and I exit from home at 7h30 for a brisk walk. At 8h00am I started running very lightly, some stretching and the I went to the starting block
Run
  • 2h 54m 37s
  • 42.19 kms
  • 04m 08s  min/km
Comments:

This was my 15th marathon and 3rd time in Zurich. I was not prepared at all for the full marathon distance and the original plan was to stop at 30km just for doing a long run because the registration was a gift done few weeks ago.
This week my train volume was tremendous with 19hrs, two long rides with 2x brick runs, 2x intense bike session indoor and 1x track intense session running. I had 4x swims with 1x very intense on 20x100m just yesterday.
I am very surprised to have seen my legs fresh all along the 42k, having some energy for the last 2km sprinting below 4'00/km.
I will try in 2 weeks to run the HIM section at the same pace of today' marathon.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Quickly went home with tram and took a warm bath with nice recovery liquid in it. Then electro-massage Compex for recovery and sleep

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I did not want to set my PB so 4'08/km was even better than expected
