Comments:

Was not digging this race from the beginning. Legs felt dead and just felt like a sloppy runner. First mile ticked off at 6:01, which was about 15 seconds faster than projected goal pace. So I pulled back some knowing I had a little in the bank. Stayed right on pace through mile 3, which was just under 19:00. I thought "Alright this is where I need to be to neg-split the second half". Sat on that pace through mile 6. At 6.5 my turn-over went to crap and I started "gut-checking". The idea of negative splitting was out the bag and staying even became the focus. Was hurting some, but not horribly so I just sorta carried on. Hit the 8 mile marker, leg turnover was garbage, stride fell apart, and had zero "pop" in my legs. Under normal conditions I would've been able to accelerate for a minute or two and settle back into pace, but not today. Last few miles felt like a death march and just wanted to finish.
What would you do differently?:

Everything! I don't think I've quite recovered from March's big run month, but the goal of that was not to test the legs 10 days later but geared towards tri season still a couple of months out. So I may not have had it today, but I'll be ready for the race season. It's April, the legs are shaved and it's time to get fast!
