Age Group Rank = 17/31
Pre-race routine:

NADA.. Bannana and a long walk to swim start.
Event warmup:

Small swim to get use to water, and make sure my goggles didn't leak.
Swim
  • 27m 37s
  • 1500 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim.. Took me a little to get going, but once around the first buoy there were no problems..
What would you do differently?:

Work on form the first 5 minutes.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Great time for me.. I don't like having to pack all of our swim stuff in bags (swim is at different location than finish). Took a few extra seconds. Transition area WAS SUPER CROWDED...
What would you do differently?:

Wipe my feet a little cleaner.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 54s
  • 28 miles
  • 19.79 mile/hr
Comments:

I dropped my ALL my nutrition about 2 miles into the bike ride (SO NO NUTRITION FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE RACE!!!) My chain came off 2 times (so I had to get off my bike twice to pop it back in), and I stopped to help a girl who got a flat (her first ever tri, and borrowed her friends bike so she had no equipment). The ride was beautiful, and A TON OF FUN!!!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Not drop my nutrition, Not have my chain pop off... and I don't know if I would stop again to help a flat out (Definitely a crash, but a flat?? NOT SURE)
Transition 2
  • 01m 16s
Comments:

GREAT TIME...SLOW START ON RUN... A BELLY ACHE
Run
  • 1h 00m 5s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 01s  min/km
Comments:

RUN WAS REAL HARD FOR ME.. VERY DISAPPOINTING.. I was not in good shape. Having no nutrition on the bike hurt me.. I drank too much water, so I had a belly ache..
What would you do differently?:

??? I WISH I KNEW?? I would fix it.. but better nutrition from bike to run.
Post race
Warm down:

water water water.. then beer beer beer. stopped after 3 though. Some stretching but

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My running ability that day.

Event comments:

GREAT RACE, VERY ORGANIZED, AND A LOT OF FUN!!

Was she cute? Seriously, I think it's great you stopped to help the girl with the flat. Nothing like banking a little race karma...esp. to help a newbie. It'll pay back with great dividends.

How'd you manage such a fast bike pace with all your mishaps??  You must've been cooking when you were riding.  Nice swim...and better nutrition will make all the diff in the run!  Good race.

There's always next time!!  It sucks, I know.  But you still had a great race, given all that went wrong.
