Pre-race routine:

Heed. Picked up Jason at 7:10am. Had a Zone bar and banana.
Event warmup:

Jason and I ran out to the public restrooms to avoid the lines at the Porta-Johns. Talked with Autumn for a bit before the start.

Laid sweats over fence as a transition marker.

Nothing

Comments:

Cramped at about mile 10. Both calves! Kept HR low on the uphills, hammered on the downhills. Emily passed me on an uphill half-way through the course. We leapfrogged the rest of the race. Emily, you had a GREAT ride! Finished up 1 bottle of Heed by end of ride.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe wear HR monitor, so as not to exceed LT to avoid cramping? Who knows?
Transition 2
  • 00m 59s
Comments:

Did a Fred Flintstone coming into T2. Headed down the wrong row at a fast clip. Tried to adjust at the last minute and my shin hit the pedal. Ouch!
What would you do differently?:

Take time into transition

What would you do differently?:

Gut it out at mile 2!
Post race
Warm down:

Found Jason. Were NOT in the mood to eat hot dogs, so left early. Found a Pei Wei's on the way home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Insufficient training

Well, it was good seeing you today.  Sorry to hear about the pedal mishaps   The calf cramping must explain why I caught up to you at the end of the bike, because you were really flying.

Thanks Emily.  You had a great ride!  You owned those hills.  Congrats on a 1st place in the womens' relay!  See you at New Brighton!
