looks like the water temp is making a rebound.  15.5 Celsius according the NWS = 60 F and that is at 9.5 feet below the surface.  Anybody have any reports of the surface water temp?  1 week to go, getting stoked and nervous at the same time...

With the current weather forecast I would think that the lake might warm up a little bit more before race day.  We shall see.  If it's just a few more degrees I'd be happy with that.  But of course as long as it's not under 60 degrees I can't complain!

just don't let the little kids running around in their diapers and playing in the water on the day before the event intimidate you...I did the race in 2006 and was scared to get in; then I saw these kids and decided to cowboy up!

I did IMCDA in 2008. The water was "supposedly" 59* although it felt COLDER..I wore booties, a thermal vest, hoodie. They had a hot tub outside T-1 that I did use for about 1 minute...I shook the whole 2nd lap. I think if I had it to do over again, I would skip the vest and booties. I think they only slowed me down (time was 25 min longer than my PR)...good luck to all of you! I finally warmed up on the bike so just get through the swim...great course!

I actually saw a guy put on TWO wetsuits yesterday. I was in disbelief. For starters I am swimming in a sleeveless with no neoprene cap and am fine. Secondly... how can that even be comfortable?

Is that even legal?  I thought that there was a maximum wetsuit thickness.

I wondered the same thing. The guy should float like a cork.
