So I had it on my calendar ... but I hadn't entered yet... I'm officially entered.  Anyone else going to be there?

I was wondering if they would go ahead with the race. That is one of the areas that was hit hardest by the tornado and there is apparently millions of dollars of damage to the marina.

Go far the race is a GO.  The Town has no intentions of asking the race to be canceled (so far).

I got word from my PT yesterday that it is officially a bad idea. So no race for me until September, probably. Cry

Albeit small it is my first time doing a Tri of any sort so I am a bit excited.

I'll be there!

Anyone know if the bike course has been altered from what's on the website or if the construction at Seacliffe/Bevel has been completed?  I'm about 2 hours away right now...

We rode through part of the bike course for the Lung Association ride - I don't remember any construction... Not sure where it was happening though.

For anyone who's interested...

I just got an email back from one of the guys listed on the 'Contact Us' section about the road construction and he said that the contractors are going to be doing some more patchwork around the construction and that riders need to be cautious.

The area under construction is Seacliffe near Bevel Line.

This was my first event on Saturday. First time out and I had fun. Didn't do as good as I hoped in some ways but my goal was to finish and I did just that. Great event, Orginized well on Saturday for us newbies, I enjoyed the event. Hated the heat by the time we got underway.

A great way to cut my teeth on this new to me sport that I have only been working on for 6 weeks now. I learned a lot from it and know what I need to work on and what I can do to improve myself. I am very happy with myself for going last min and just doing it.

I went back on Sunday to take some pictures and watch a friend race. very impressed watching everyone that knows how to really do this. I have several pictures to go through yet. But just over all impressed at the event, facilities, Volunteers and everyone involved.  To think this all started in my wife's boss's back yard it is kind of cool.

I have been inspired to improve more for my next event... which is way out in August....gives me that much more time to improve...

I had a really great race... I wish the beginning of the swim had gone better - but I took my age group and 2nd overall for the ladies.  Good day for me!

Seriously considering dumping Steelhead and racing sprints for the rest of the season...

Congrats on the AG win!

I saw my place on the truck and proceed to head home before the awards since I wasn't in the running for anything.  My crying baby decided it was time to go.

Sunday was my first ever race and I learned a couple valuable lessons:
  1. Just because someone's faster than you in the water does not mean they know where they are going.  The triangle swim was starting to become a square after the first turn
  2. My bike needs a lot of work.  I swam a 13:04 which I was content with since my the swim is my strong suit, but then had a demoralizing bike watching a parade of people fly by me.
  3. The smell of manure actually has a taste and it's not good.  There was about 5 minutes or so on the bike where a farm had spread some not-so-nice smelling manure.  I don't mind the smell normally, but this stuff was ripe.

lol, must be the farmer in me I never even smelled any manure

It was a great race, was a tad warm in the sun.

To Chris keep up the work, if you like the try-a-tri you'll really like the sprint distance. It was great meeting you.

To Stef..you are a SUPERSTAR!

Funny......I said the complete opposite.  I find Sprints are just way to fast for me and I love just taking my time in longer distances.

Thanks Jeff,

Nice meeting you as well.

Ya I am afraid I am hooked. I learned a lot from it. I have a lot to work on yet... but that is fine I am up for it. It has certainly made an improvement on my health already.

I have to keep going through pictures I posted some on FB and I think Stef tagged you in them.
