I've been rocking pink forever. (Gotta be bright though, I hate pastels.)  Very secure in myself, and more than a little sympathetic to some of the BS aimed at the "Family" since I am so often thought to belong to it as more than an ally.

Here's a current pic of my left hand (right hand holding the camera is done too):

I don't think I've ever been checked out by another guy.  I'm still too fat.

I must think though, that triathlon training should cause all of us to get more of that kind of stare, from ALL sexes!

I adore you.

For your passionate devotion to proper English.

For your bright pink nails.

For your humility.

For saying "ALL" sexes.

And you tri.

Thanks.

eff that!  you can compliment me all you want!  What kind of fool doesn't want a compliment no matter WHO it comes from?...

If a gay guy said I was hot, I would be like all day "yeah!  I'm hot!"....

Right on!!

This past winter I was out to dinner at a sushi place in the city that a friend works at.  I was with my g/f and some other friends.  So my friend that works there comes up to me and goes "my coworker totally has the hots for you!"

Totally flattered I was like "get outta here!, which one?".  She says "the guy behind the bar".  In a weird way I almost felt more flattered than if it was a girl.  Not sure if that's right or wrong or neither.  But the next thing I knew he was delivering a glass of wine to me.  Apparently he asked to bring it out to me Cool.  He ended up complimenting my g/f on her taste in men.

I was beyond flattered!

15step - 2010-06-15 3:46 PM FWIW, the gay community is for the most part open to anyone who does not fit the "heterosexual" definition. Thats why a lot of organizations define themselves as LGBTQAI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Questioning, Allies, Intersex). As one poster said earlier, human sexuality is not binary. In response to the original poster, I am gayer than Elton John's fanny pack I couldn't help but think of this when I was reading through the thread.....absolutely hilarious by Margaret Cho. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AXlRKrdQsU#t=00m31s
I have gay male friends and lesbian women friends. I have had gay/lesbian friends and hung out in their "scene" for 20 years. I can most certainly tell you they DO NOT like bisexuals. Only bisexuals like bisexuals. Ha. But gay/lesbian say the bi's need to make a choice. They can't have their cake and eat it too.

This has been my experience as well.  My brother is gay as is an uncle and a female cousin.  I started hanging out at gay bars when I was 15 or 16 because they didn't card back in the day, great dance scene.
Anyway - in my experience gay people think bisexuals just haven't come to terms with their homosexuality yet.  A lot of gay guys will say 'I was bi for a week' or 'I was bi long enough to tell my parents'  They aren't ready to admit they are gay and think saying they are bi is more acceptable.  In my eyes if you are a guy having sex with guys you are gay, not bi.

Is it possible for someone to enjoy sex with both genders?  Does the same hold true for women?  If a woman has sex with another woman, does that necessarily mean she's a lesbian?

I agree that there are likely *some* gay/lesbian people who call themselves bi for the reasons you state, but putting them all in the same bucket is just wrong.

What if you are a guy having sex with both men and women?  There IS bisexuality out there, whether gay people accept them or not.

I (being a gay man) love my bi friends.  Ever since I decieded not to hide my true self, I have met more bi's than you could ever imagine.  Though I do like to tease a few of my closer friends ~ "Did you flip a coin to decied if you want an inny or an outy tonight?" However I am a little jealous that it does give them twice the chance to get some "Pizza".

I think it is possible to be attracted to both but very rare and a lot of gay men will tell you they were bi first.  I think a person being sexually attracted to both sexes is rare but that is only my personal opinion/experience.

So what?

Your experience is not indicative of the larger picture.  And your eyes mislead you.

As a member of the LGBT community myself (two of those letters apply to me), trust me, it's not as rare as you think.  I don't get why people think that giving a "this is just my opinion" disclaimer is some sort of free pass to spew falsehoods without having to be called out on them.

Of course it is your opinion.  Otherwise you wouldn't have written it.

There is a whole world out there of all sorts of folks, people... generalizations, in general Undecided, aren't always as accurate as we might like to think.

Not gay.  Frankly, I can't understand why anyone, male or female, would choose a male partner.  This means I totally get why a woman would be a lesbian, but I don't get straight women OR gay men.  Just saying...

Because, apart from the whole sex part, being gay means hanging out with your buddy all the time.  And frankly, if we legalize gay marriage, the sex part will go away.  At least, that seems to be what happens when straight couples marry...

In your situation if my GF stops when we get married we already have an agreement.  I can cheat on her with Megan Fox or a man.  She has Mark Walhberg and any woman/en she wants.  So I have options!  Or if I go into space I can do it with whomever.

I used my girlfriend's bubble bath last night so I'm just a couple mohitos away from buying a timeshare on Fire Island.  I did keep a water pistol in there to help man it up though.

And straight men are stereotyped to be dumb, football loving, bud light drinking, meat heads who are helpless without their wives.  It's funny and we just go with it.  When people get real defensive about stuff is when people use it more against them.  Regardless of how true or not it is.

Straight men don't have to worry about being fired from their jobs because they are straight, or not being allowed to marry because they are straight, or having the crap beat out of them because they are straight.  Not the best comparison I've ever seen.

Implying that one is doing something to avoid the appearance of being gay, whether or not it is in jest, *is* using the stereotype against gay people... implication being that there is something bad or shameful about being gay.  There's not.

eta: This kind of joke is no different than something making a "joke" about, say, not eating too much fried chicken because they don't want people to think they are black.  They're equivalent and equally offensive.

Maybe it is because I live in a large gay population area but I don't see that.  Even at my old construction job we had an openly gay man and no one cared.  I got in plenty of fights in school for many reasons.  I've seen people get beat up for many reasons.  Yes sometimes it was because they were gay but other times it was because they were Jewish and yes because they were white.  I wasn't allowed into a gay/lesbian club before because I was going in with my girlfriend.  We were going with her lesbian friend and her girlfriend.  Yet the gay guy with us was allowed.  I was singled out.  Do I care?  No, it's a private business and they can allow or not allow whomever they want.

Being a white male isn't as cracked up as people think it is.  Ever seen the Washington Mutual commercials?  Let's see you have a bunch of old white men in suits who are money hungry while you have the cool casual black man who is keeping them in a pen (aka their place).  What if it was the other way around?

Then there is the other gay stereotype.  They are good hard working educated people with clean homes who are clean themselves (and fit) and make good money.  That is a positive stereotype (like Asians are good at math or black people can dance while white men can't)  I remember Robin Williams making a joke about sending gay military people to Iraq after the PMSing military women destroy it to clean it up.  Are the gay rights groups going to go after him?

If people would relax and go with the flow, people would accept a lot more people.  I ride a motorcycle and hear people all the time say "You're gonna get killed on that".  I hate hearing it becuase the same people could get nailed by a bus a few minutes later but they stereotype motorcycle riders as people with a death wish.  I use to be one of those people who believed that and now I ride a motorcycle just about everyday.  If the motorcycle riders I said that too got so defensive and upset when I said that then I probably wouldnt' be riding a motorcycle today.

And yes I have been to Pride week.  I found it very fun and entertaining and hope to go next year.

Maybe it is because I live in a large gay population area but I don't see that.

I used my girlfriend's bubble bath last night so I'm just a couple mohitos away from buying a timeshare on Fire Island.  I did keep a water pistol in there to help man it up though.

I drank my friend's 40 of malt liquor last night so I'm just a couple Ripples away from renting a tenement in Compton.  I did sport a popped-collar polo to help white it up though.

Yeah, you're right, totally not the same.

Being a white male isn't as cracked up as people think it is.

Um, cry me a river.

This has nothing to do with the point I was making... your joke implied that there was something negative about being gay.  You implied that it made you less of a man.  I don't understand these irrelevant analogies.

And yes I have been to Pride week.  I found it very fun and entertaining and hope to go next year.

Next year try your joke at Pride Week, and see how it goes over.  Then come back to this thread and report how it went. If it ends up being well-received, I stand corrected.

Wow.  Just wow.  I don't even know where to start with you.  So much to say, yet I do not want to get kicked off the site.
