Hot is the word!

Did everyone just LOVE those ice sponges they handed out?  Man, I have NEVER put sponges down my pants before but it sure helped!

If any of you saw the athlete that was pulled off the run course, I just want to let you all know that he is ok!  He was treated at MCV and rehydrated and chilled down and is doing much better today!!

WOW!  Can't believe you all competed in that heat.

I was at the run start (just as you exited the transition zone) with my 4 year old cheering for everyone.  I couldn't believe how hot it was, and I was just sitting on the sidewalk under a large umbrella.

Hats off to everyone - that was simply amazing to compete in that heat!!!

Sorry I missed meeting everyone - I brought along my 4 year old to cheer and after about an hour, he had a meltdown (literally and figuratively).  But I did see a couple of BTers out there.

Again - major props to competing in that mess!

It was really hot. I don't think I ran in temps over 79 deg since last summer and I was dying out there. I had to start walking when I hit the Mayo bridge and I missed the sponges on the way out. I had lost my gu and was really afraid I would run out gas or worse. I probably walked half the 10K. I thought I could definately run it in under an hour but it was too hot for that. I heard about the guy who went down and am glad to hear he is ok. I am surprised more people didn't have problems with the heat.

The rest of the race was really great though. If the weather was cooler it would have been perfect.
