Run
Comments: Second run in 5 days without pain!!! But holy hell, not only was it SOOO hot, but I had a total icky stomach feeling. I took in a gu rocktane 15 minutes before run, but it kind of upset my stomach. Other than that...I felt really good the first mile, kind of fadded in the second, and then felt good the last mile...except for the icky stomach issue. What would you do differently?: Nothing...this is a faster than usual pace per mile for me, so I hope to build on this going forward. Then new PT seems to be working wonders....and DJ's help/tips/coaching have been beyond valuable...I keep all the things we talk about in my mind when I am racing now. Post race
Warm down: Got a BUNCH of water, gatorade and those recovery drinks, and a bagel and headed home...to get out of heat!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat....and stomach queasiness. Event comments: Always do this 5k race in honor of mom...since it's for the Leukemia/Lymphoma society...interesting that it falls in the month of June, since we lost her June 28th. Always seems to fall during my PMS week too, which makes me a little more on the emotional side too. Felt good tonight...except for the stomach uneasiness...like having races where I not only feel like I am strong, but I am actually able to "compete." I was 10th in my age group out of 59, so top 10....I'll take it...hope to just keep improving on that! Last updated: 2010-06-17 12:00 AM
