Total Time = 2h 06m 26s
Overall Rank = 2925/3450
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 521/572
Pre-race routine:

First Tri, very nervous, had 2 bites of a bagel and then was able to get a gel down about 30 minutes before the swim.
Swim
  • 20m 50s
  • 800 meters
  • 02m 36s / 100 meters
Comments:

Didn't do as bad as I thought on the swim, but I know I will have to get some kind of formal training before I do another tri. :)
Transition 1
  • 05m 17s
Comments:

I did to much chatting and encouraging to the other girls around me instead of concentrating on getting myself ready to go.
What would you do differently?:

Not chat so much, maybe organize my area a little better.
Bike
  • 51m 57s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 14.32 mile/hr
Comments:

Need to work on changing my gears at the right time, spent to much time fooling around with that and changing them incorrectly.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe invest in a tri bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 52s
Comments:

This transition went a little smoother, however did not run to hard to the run start, was starting to fall apart a little :)
Run
  • 45m 28s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 14m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Good course, but I unfortunately walked more than ran it. It was really hot and my mind wasn't working with me.
Post race
Event comments:

I will be back for this race, I now know what I need to work on, and it looks like everything. :) But I have a baseline on my times which will help.

Awesome job! I was there too! my biggest gripe was the verrrrrrrry long wait to start off, I know I sorta lost my enthusiasm by the the time my wave (31) went off...

GREAT job riding that course w/ a mt bike, you are a superstar!

Congrats on your first tri and good luck on your next one!!!

There is nothing like the well deserved feeling of accomplishment after your first tri. You can now say that you've done something that most of the general population will never have the courage to tri.

Let the addiction begin

Thanks for the encouragement. I was so nervous wating for my heat to start and I was #15, (older group ) I didn't eat much before the race, but the swim turned out to be the least of my problems. Again thanks for your inspiration.

Thanks Marcie! And thanks for all your encouragement and tips, I will hopefully be able to incorporate yours and Brenda's swimming ideas next time, just couldn't quiet do it this time. But I will be back and I do plan on doing the one in Naperville, now I really know what I need to work on and realized that I do need a tri-bike I look forward also to doing bike rides and runs with you.
