  • 805 meters
  • 01m 34s / 100 meters
Comments:

swim went well, went out hard and maintained pace, at about 1/2 way some poor girl turned right right in front of me....bump bump bump...i went right over top of her, got to second to last buoy and started to turn in, i am like WTF why is no one turning....oooops....one more buoy to go, got in line and had a drag race to end.
What would you do differently?:

swim more
Transition 1
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

got into t1, i was a little winded, kept my composure, suit came right off, put to side, put one shoe on, went to put the other on and i pulled the strap out of the shoe, had to fiddle with that get it on and out i go. i was 10 seconds faster here last year, all cause of the strap
What would you do differently?:

not pull strap out of shoe
Bike
  • 32m 13s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 24.58 mile/hr
Comments:

ahhhh..... my bike, how love thee. Well the course had to be changed 2 days before the race due to some unforseen road construction that was a total surprise to all involved. Got a running start to my bike jumped on and away i went, 3 seconds later i am shouting on your left!!!!!! I had originally planned on shooting for a sub 30min bike, i was really trying to win the bike leg, but with the route change i knew that was going to be near impossible and it put me in kinda a foul mood. So when i got on it was decided that i would hammer to the best of my ability and see what happens. The girls and a few mens waves went out prior to my group so there was a ton of traffic, i was hammering yelling OYL and cruising at a pretty rapid pace. first lap was uneventful, i lost my frozen water bottle for cooling on some potholes and shouted on your left to a minivan that pulled onto race course on a one way streeet, passed him hit a few more corners pretty agressivley and went to finish lap one, on the way in i am going like 26-27mph and yell OYL to a girl who was kinda weaving and low and behold she turn left right in front of me.........ARRRGGGHHH immediate evasive action to left hop a curb hop back off, sneer at her and continue on....that was close...cyclocross really pays off, i never got out of aero. finish first loop and go back out, i am a little tired and the pace is getting to me. I start spinning a little more, making uo time where i could and just keep hammering. Feet out of shoes into dismount and awesome flying dismount, grab front brake real wheel lifts up and i shoulder the bike ala Cross racing agian!!!!
What would you do differently?:

not much 2nd in AG and 5th overall, almost 25mph average
Transition 2
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

standard T2, rack bike grab shoes, put on grab race belt and out the door i go
What would you do differently?:

nothing, i finally did not drop my race belt
Run
  • 25m 3s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

Good run, pr by 1 mins 10 secs, HR was a little high to start as a result of the bike leg, settled in to a nice pace, i musta been 15th or 16th overall at this point cause i counted those who passed me, settled into a nice pace, kept up with those that went by and holy cow i actually passed a few peeps on the run!!!! by the 2 mile mark i was gassed but i kept pushing, Saw the overall men coming in, high 5'vd my teammate that ended up 3rd overall, saw Jelly fish finishing strong Yelled Go getum pumpkin again, lol. last mile was a little slower than i had hoped but i am not complaining
What would you do differently?:

PR on run, i am getting better every race
Post race
Warm down:

lotsa water in me and on me, cheered on friends saw my wife and baby, congratulated the finishers

What limited your ability to perform faster:

nothing
