Pre-race routine:

Got there early, set up transition area and talked to friends. Squirmed into wetsuit (this is actually getting easier) and went to a quick swim.
Event warmup:

Quick swim in the lake.
Swim
  • 06m 21s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started the swim a little father up front than normal, and felt great. Pushed it a little and did not have anyone catch me or get to much of the washing machine affect.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Surprised at my T1 time. Felt like I was going slower.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 32m 5s
  • 11 miles
  • 20.57 mile/hr
Comments:

Stayed aero as much as possible and felt good. Pushed the pace as this was my "Norman Stadler" experiment. Avg HR 166.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

First had a problem racking my bike, almost took the whole rack out. :) Then could not get the shoes tied, kept fumbling the knot. I have tried Yankz in the past and not liked them.
What would you do differently?:

Look for something else for laces, possibly speed laces for the shorter event races.
Run
  • 23m 54s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

HR was pegged for the run, Avg 175. Just pushed through the pain and kept going. Kept going because I thought cdf26.2 was going to catch me, every time I heard footsteps I thought for sure it was him. Thanx Chris, you pushed me to a PB.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around for a while and drank R4. Then water and talked race w/ others there and stretched a little.

Event comments:

This is a great training series, nice laid back atmosphere. Bill puts on a great series.

Sounds like you had fun and had some good strategy....starting out front in the swim...and waiting for Chris to catch you to motivate you to go faster. You are fast...wow!! I wish I could have made it...and most likely won't again this year...maybe August. Great group of friendly people who are super encouraging!!
