Subject: RE: Tri Bikes for big guyscountryvoodoo - 2010-08-02 7:48 PM I have started the research for buying a TT bike early next year and am looking for some guidance from the more experienced Clydes. I am current riding a Fuji 4.0 that my wife found for me on Craigslist ($200.00) and feel that to take it to another level next year I will need a new bike. I have looked at the Trek Equinox 7 and the Felt S32 so far. I been told that at 6'5", 240 lbs, Carbon frames are not more for me.
Re: Carbon frames, I've been told the same thing. I, too, am 6'5", 240lbs, and am currently on a Fuji Aloha 1.0. I have been tempted by the P3's and a couple of other more aero bikes but it always comes back to the fact that I am still cutting a 240lb hole through the wind and the most aero bike in the world is only going to help so much. I did have to upgrade the crank on the bike as I had bent it after about a year of riding but other than that my Fuji has been solid. I also replaced the stock wheels with Am Classic Victory 30's as the stock wheels did not hold up to the weight/stress that I was putting on them. That said, your experience may differ. |
