Comments:

Weird swim with the 50-yard run on the beach between the two laps. Finished 8th overall in the swim despite a time that wasn't that great. A lot of seaweed in two sections of the course.
Transition 1
  • 02m 19s
Comments:

A little trouble with shoes, but overall decent.
Bike
  • 1h 24m 9s

Comments:

Very hard bike course. Couldn't take advantage of all the downhills in the first half because of a lot of sharp turns. The second half of the course was basically a long long long uphill with no breaks. ~1200 feet of climbing according to mapmyride. Went a little easier than usual on the bike to try and save legs for the run (so much for that plan).
Transition 2
  • 01m 40s
Comments:

Not bad.
Run
  • 1h 12m 32s

Comments:

Ahhh, the run, my achilles heel. Again terrible pain in the balls of my feet and toes about halfway through - I don't understand why this only happens in races and not in training. Tried loosening my shoes, which helped the first time but not the 2nd. Cramped up for a bit around mile 5. Did more walking than I really hoped to do. My pace was actually a hair faster than Columbia Celebration, so I guess I should take that as a positive.

Event comments:

Well run race. Was a bummer that they ran out of t-shirts though.

This was my first Olympic distance tri, so I guess I should just be happy about finishing. Still need a lot of work on the running though. Either that or take up Aqua Velo.

Congrats on racing a great race!  You can email Ken and get your t  shirt, since he is ordering more. It is definitely a hard bike course, way to tough it out!

Great job.

Awesome swim time, it felt like I was swimming through a fishing net a couple of times.

LOL, running off the bike seems to be an art, still working on that myself.

Agree with Terps, let Ken know, he'll get you a shirt.

Thanks.  I emailed Ken, he said they are putting in another shirt order.

My legs are still sore from that bike hill.
