Age Group Rank = 1/2
Pre-race routine:

Eric and I got up early and drove over to Molly and Anne's and had a little coffee...then we drove out to the race course in Chatnika
Swim
  • 42m
  • 2120 yards
  • 01m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

We all started in the water...it was COLD...it took a lap before I would even put my head in the water! By lap two I was working the water like usual. Nice swim!
What would you do differently?:

I wore my lycra cap instead of the plastic one they gave us (plastic pulls my hair!)...I should of wore both!
Transition 1
  • 05m
Comments:

I took the transition nice and slow. It all felt good.
Bike
  • 3h 10m
  • 56 miles
  • 17.68 mile/hr
Comments:

OK note to self (and anyone else out there who gets this urge)...NEVER buy a tri suit or shorts that are while or have white in them...I followed a man in a tri suit that had a white stripe across his butt and let's just say it wasn't pretty--that was way too much of a Handyman Smile for way too many miles. Ick.
What would you do differently?:

I would like to try aerobars...I think they could of added a level of comfort.
Transition 2
  • 05m
Comments:

Nice transition--it really took 5-7 mins...I changed shoes and ran into the woods to pee, realized I forgot the new mp3 player (with different music) and ran back and grabbed it. Overall nice transition. I had a little Peanut butter powerbar! YUM.
Run
  • 2h 13m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 10m 09s  min/mile
Comments:

The run felt GREAT...the thunder clapped right as I passed the 1/2 way mark and it really began to pour when I got to mile 8 or so...IT WAS AWESOME! What a way to end the race--I am A PONY THAT LIKES TO RUN IN THE RAIN!
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Molly ran Eric and I through some stretches then we ate at the barbeque...

Event comments:

This was the best race!! I actually feel like a triathlete now. The muscles that hurt on me the most are my cheeks from smiling and laughing. I would encourage EVERYONE to do this! It was so fun!!

Jen,

Awesome race. It sounds like you had so much fun even with the chilly water. Running with a thunderstorm is way cool...

Nice times. Every bit of your race went well. It looks like you paced yourself well so that you could still run a good half marathon at the end.
