It was good to see those peeps that I did see-Awesome race, had alot of fun, am tired and don't feel like I left anything out there on the course. I still need to work on my run but ended up 4th in my AG-stiff competition out there.  Was shivering SO bad before the swim but once I got in I don't remember feeling cold at all for the rest of the race.

Not so bad considering my pre-race week.

Actually was talking to a guy before the race setting up that had just lost his best friend 9 days before to an anneurism (sp) on a bike ride.  I WAS going to  complain about my week before that but when I heard that I told him, "Dude, I got nothing on that. Can't really complain about anything now."

Good race, now what?

I finished My first HIM distance yesterday. I have no idea where i placed but that wasn't my goal anyway. I'm happy with finishing. I also liked the finisher medal. This was the last race of my season and i can't wait till next year!

sungirl919 - 2010-09-26 8:33 PM I saw Kate's car, but no Kate.  I couldn't find anyone except Sandy, my spin instructor, who works for HFP.

Robin, I thought I saw you but I didn't think you were going to be there. Now I'm sure it was you. Rats. Sorry I missed you.

I was in a last-minute relay with Steve and a friend who is only allowed to swim (per dr's order).  We were her wheels and legs!  Great time, but COLD!  I will probably consider doing it again.  It wasn't as far away as I imagined.

Great job, everyone!  Way to represent!

So I finished my first ever HIM and it was amazing! I think my unofficial time is a little under 6 hours which wasn't my goal but hey I had fun!

ANyone have any recommendations for post race. My legs are feeling a little sore today and my body is just like relaxed...

It was great racing!!!

Also any word on how they guy was that was I think hit by a car?

So glad I decided to do the sprint two weeks after REV 3. First in the Athena group (would have been second in AG).  22:09 5K is a PR for me.  It was a great day weather wise (little windy on the bike).  HFP put on a well run race

Must have been somebody else who was also hauling on the bike with the disc.  I heard it coming for a ways and the guy behind me yelled "car".  I damn near ditched it trying to look over my shoulder because the guy behind me made it sound like we were about to get ran over.  And in truth we were, it just happened to be by another bike.

Must have been one of them.  You had likely blown by already as it was right about the spot you and they should have been catching me based on your swim time.

What is typical protocol for the swim start?  Is it wrong to nudge your way to the front of the line if you know you are going to blow by most of the people who are in front of you?  I swam 17:09 or so and was breast stroking about 25% of it trying to find some open water because the 2 guys in front of me couldn't swim a straight line.  About the only effort I really put into the swim was a 50 yard stretch where I opened up a bit and actually kicked to get by the knuckleheads who were cutting me off no matter which way I went.

In the swim, you go where you want to be.  You just gotta stand your ground.  You can either give in to the body next to/blocking you or you can go over/around/through them.

I'm with Kate-I like to swim to the outside to get to clear water but if there is a traffic jam ahead of me I just pick a hole and cram myself through it.  I try to be mindful of not smacking people when I am passing and if I feel someone on my feet I try not to kick to hard until I don't feel them anymore.  I don't like to be hit/kicked and believe in good karma. You will get used to swimming in a mob with time. Be patient with yourself.

ok so now what? I finished my first ever HIM and it was so much fun. After the race I thought it was a decent performance being my first HIM.

Now that I look back at the numbers and look at the day, I am starting to be disappointed in my performance.

Swim: 00:29:55 ( Not to bad finished 16th across the field)
Bike: 03:03:59 - Man  thought this was good but now that I look back what the hell was I doing?
Run: 02:18:52 ( I walked way to much)

I am starting to get the pre race blues and I miss the training. What is everyone's plan for winter training?
