Fred,

You are correct on both questions. We do register at Monona Terrace. Their is also a parking garage on site. Have a great race.

This might be a little late since many of you will be traveling and busy with pre-race activities but other IM threads have listed out BT name, real name, bib number, goal, etc. in a spreadsheet that others can view to see all the results.  In the past I've created a very basic results page that does this automatically throughout the day.  If interested I can do the same thing for you guys if you want to start putting the list together.

I thought I posted a reference to this earlier, but here is our list that we have created in the Wisconsin forum -

Such a jokester, he is, that DJ.

It gets VERY busy/congested starting around 5:15 a.m. and after (even at 5:00 a.m. people are piling in).

Get a good night's sleep and get there early to avoid any additional panic and such.

I met the Race Day Wheels guys at Williamson Bicycle Works on W. Washington (near Regent Street).  They informed me that they aren't allowed down on the Monona Terrace since Ironman has their own race wheel setup stuff.

Sheesh!  Now Ironman is becoming Microsoft, with their own Ironman brand drink, and now servicing the bike wheels.  What next - their own pretzels, Coca Cola, etc. etc.??

Ha, thanks...

I was thinking, so avoid all the congestion, to get there around 10.

Seriously though, I was thinking 5, so I'll probably stick to that

oh the one thing that i have seen now over the last three years is that the body markers that are closest to the capitol side of monona terrace are always UBER busy with a line that goes more than 10 deep, while on the other side by the lake, the ones over there are looking for people to write on...........just a little tip from my viewpoint!

wait, what?

So, are you saying to go where  you walk into the water or the other side?  Sorry, I'm not that familiar with the area

Helix side of the terrace.  or just do this, if you see a body marker with a long line, find another one, there will be ones with shorter lines or nobody at all.

where is the best spot for lining up in the swim? Most people think the outside left and outside right are so it tends to more crowded on the outside than the middle.

What is the consensus here?

I wanted to give a quick heads up to anyone who is swimming tomorrow.  My OWS coach is starting at 6:30 at the swim entrance and all are welcome to join her.  She will be in a kayak.  Things were pretty chaotic today with swimmers going every direction.  It was pretty helpful to have her.  Her name is Jessical Laufenberg and she will wearing SBR Coaching Gear.

I made it through registration in 13 minutes today!

Unbelievable, went for a quick 30 minute spin and just avoided getting hit. Riding down old swill on the bike lane and some old lady mKes a wide left turn right into the bike lane right at me, I couldn't slow down as it was right at me and braced for impact. Luckily she missed me by no more than 2 inches. Didn't even slow down, I don't think she saw me. That would have really sucked.

I have a 55 min bike with intervals tomorrow. Can anyone suggest where I can do this that would be relatively safer than the bike path??

Do I need to drive somewhere as I'm staying downtown.

PS, glad you are OK.

Fred welcome to Madison! and everyone else as well! Off the top of my head you have two options for intervals. Numero Uno would be to do them on the stick portion of the course just after you leave town. The stick is a bit technical and hilly, but provides roads that are close by dt, and already prepped for Sunday. Otherwise the other option is to drive out to HWY KP or 14 (15-20minutes by car) and do them on those roads. Flat and straight make it some easy roadway for intervals and all you need to do is take University Ave west all the way out past Middleton to get you on the roads. Those are the two options that are at your disposal off the top of my head. I will be riding in that area mid-afternoon if anyone wants to join me I can pick you up and take you out there.

If anyone wants to get a pre-ride of the course tomorrow and staying downtown I would be happy to drive you around just send me a PM.

It looks like the weather will be great come Sunday!
