Overall Rank = 17/213

Age Group Rank = 5/18
Pre-race routine:

Was planning on sleeping in but had to get up to take one of the girls to the Race for the Cure earlier in the morning. Got up, ate a little, had a cup of Joe. Really weird starting a race so late in the day....really screws with the usual schedule.
Event warmup:

Got transition set up, checked in. Ran a mile, swam a couple of laps in the bathtub of a diving well and was ready to roll.
Swim
  • 08m 7s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim. Could have gone much harder, but I was holding my own with the pace of the others in the lane and didn't feel like pushing to hard. Was at the farthest lane from the door and had to almost run a few people over in the next wave trying to get out the door.

Overall my swim split was 8 seconds longer than in spring with a longer run...overall I will take that.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing that could be done...
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Decent transition, couldn't get my chin strap hooked on my helmet. Other than that, went very smooth. Finally went sans socks.
What would you do differently?:

Buckle my chin strap before I do anything else
Bike
  • 39m 2s
  • 14 miles
  • 21.52 mile/hr
Comments:

Maiden racing voyage on "the Mistress" and she felt really good and fast. I went commando for this race, no PT, no HR visible, etc. and went fully on RPE. Pushed as hard as I could for the entire mileage.

Increased my average MPH by 3 mph over my spring split times, which was 5:00 minutes difference in time. Missed a couple of opportunities to take off some additional time with race strategy but very happy with this bike split.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, ride felt good.
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

No issues except I couldn't get my running shoes on. I had Vaselined the back of the shoes and everything.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 25m 28s
  • 3.19 miles
  • 07m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

Running...Oh, when I finally learn to run I am gonna be deadly. Run felt pretty good, was Sans socks and no blister issues, etc. I just need to keep working on my speed and pacing.

Ran to hard the first mile, recovered too much the second mile, had to much left for the third mile. Passed a lot of people from the earlier wave and only got passed by one person on the trail.

I took 0:45 seconds off my spring time but still have lots of room for improvement here.
What would you do differently?:

Already in the works....this Out-season is gonna fix this problem.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate some food, went to the locker room and put on some compression pants and more clothes because I was cold and hung around with some of the peeps and watched them finish.

Overall I took 8:00 minutes off my spring time which is a 17% improvement, but moved down from 4th in my AG to 5th.

Very happy with the new Sprint PR and meet my 1:15 goal for the year.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Running, Running, Running. Hard to be top 3 coming out of the water and off the bike again and end up 5th again because of the run.

Event comments:

These are well run but still low-key races and for a good cause.

I'm with Suzy on the commando part. I got a mental picture ewwww and it took a minute or two to get rid of it and finish your report. Well done on riding the Mistress. Sounds like she is really fast. Nice race.
