Subject: RE: Best Job for IM Volunteer I really enjoyed working the womens' change tent. 1. You keep REALLY busy! 2. You get to interact with athletes and hear their stories and be a part of their day. 3. You get to see ALL the pros come through! 4. You learn a lot about what to do and what NOT to do in transition! But it's a lot of work. Only do it if you truly care! I worked both T1 and T2 to make sure they had enough people, but T1 is honestly easier. It's a much shorter timeframe. Though there is a point where the tent is just SLAMMED and you can't help everybody. T2 is much longer and drawn out. Working both made me more tired and sore (think about squatting/kneeling/lunging a few hundred times ) than when I ran my Ironman. Really. My knees were SO peeved. I would do it again, but if I wanted to actually spectate for my friends I would do something else with a more defined time period like work a water station for X number of hours or a defined finish line shift or something. Yeah, you are in the tent that everyone has to pass through, but you get so busy that you don't get to watch for your friends and might miss them passing through. |
