Can and how do I get pictures from an expired MLS listing?

We paid a stager to stage our house. Had a bunch of photographs taken. Then, placed the images with the realtor who has them listed on the MLS site for when our house was on sale. We since moved out, leaving the house completely empty. It never sold and we fired the realtor (for many reasons). (small shameless plug - listing to this new FSBO listing is on my training log - free set of Carbon wheels for any one who refers a person that buys my house) Anyway, turns out that we have lost the original pictures. About 25 dazzling high quality photos of our professionally staged house. I found 5 pictures, but can't locate the rest. I know we had the max listing of images on the realtor.com MLS listing, which has since expired and is no longer available. My question is : is there any way to retrieve the images from an expired MLS listing? (I already tried the waybackmachine.com on my realtor's private webpage - but no avail). any hints GREATLY appreciated.

The board of realtors or whatever organization runs the MLS? lets just say that is a complete and total last resort with a very low degree of likelihood of success. the "relationship" didn't end very well and there have been some disagreements over who "owns" the photos. absent a court order requiring her to produce them, it is VERY UNLIKELY that she will readily hand the pictures over. plus, given her track record for responding to us, it would be quicker to move all of our furniture BACK to New York, restage the house, retake the phots and then move the furniture BACK to Virginia... |

If that's the case, I'd contact someone who knows about copyright law and who owns said photos. Sadly, it's probably the realtor. If you're Playboy and you hire someone to take photos of a naked woman, and that woman becomes famous, you technically own those photos and can publish them, or not, at your own discretion. You may want to call the realtor and ask if you can BUY the photos. |

Now I'm not sure they would be in a format that you could use, but they should at least be able to pull them. ETA - have you checked Zillow? Unless I want to get into a "work made for hire" argument, there exists a question as to who OWNS the photos. Hence figured it would just be easier to find a "back door" on the interweb and download a copy. i won't BUY the photos b/c I don't absolutely need them. i would just like them, as we are trying to drum a few leads through family friends and wanted to have them to send along to show the architecture and styling of this renovationed 1888 Colonial Federalist house with 4 or 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, on .65 acres with a screened in porch, central air. Includes 3 marble fireplaces, original wide-plank hardwood flooring in the sitting room and dining room, with original pocket doors between the rooms. |

Ummm sounds like someone is smiling upon you in not allowing you to sell that house. It sounds amazing! Move back in!! |

Besides their personal web page, those same pictures should have been uploaded to the MLS-BOR for the area and one of those realtors should be able to get you the pictures, and/or give you to the technical support people that are running the web site for them. Not only did we have to post them on the web site for the personal site, we had to upload the pictures the BOR, and then to realtor.com. Someone should have some, if not all of the pictures. |

The Coldwell Banker site here in New Englans (newenglandmoves.com) has a recent sales search option which retains photos from sales at least a yr old. If they have offices in your area it might be worth a try. |

Husband's a realtor and I'd say try what others have said, zillow, realtor dot com, trulia Also I don't think they "own" them. Admission against interest: My hub has gone to the "history" section available only to realtors with access to the MLS on old listings and used photos from before if they were good. Also check your old realtor's personal website. Most leave old expired or sold listings up to beef up their listing page. Edited by travljini 2010-12-17 4:45 PM |
