I've never heard about people turning off the water.  In fact, I never would have thought it was possible.  Very cool to see the pictures!

That's neat! As cliffs, it is a lot less impressive than with the water. Not at all what I expected.

I've heard about that story.  Very cool, be able to devert the river to check out the structure of the rocks.  Too bad they don't do it again with the techy stuff available.

One of the places to visit or put on the Bucket list.

I grew up in Niagara Falls, went to college there, and had homes on both the American and Canadian side.  I remember this event in person, and it was quite amazing.

As a towny, I knew areas where I could stand knee deep just a foot or so from the falls going over the edge and not be in trouble.

It is a beatiful part of the country, but I can truely say I don't miss the snow or the mosquitos.

X2 I grew up in Buffalo and that is one of my fondest memories. I also do not miss the snow at all.
I do miss Crystal Beach and Loganberry though

I have white water rafted the Ocoee River in Southeast Tennessee a couple times. They turn the water off at night and use it to generate power. While rafting the lower Ocoee early one morning, we had to stop and wait for the water to catch up so we didn't end up on dry riverbed. The river looks very strange with no water.
