Wind Proof Bike Tights

That's funny, I went out the other day with ONE pair of tights, but FOUR layers up top.  Legs did not get cold.  Toes did, but not legs.

Try two layers of tights maybe?  Tights + long socks + shorts?

Gotta experiment a little.

Pearl Izumi makes fleece-lined bike tights.  They are fantastic, as are the fleece-lined arm warmers.  Nice and cozy.

I have Pearl Izumi Amfib  bib tights.  They are very warm and have a wind breaker layer.  I've not gotten cold in them yet.  I've probably ridden in the low 20's with them, but not yet this year.

Another vote for the Amfib tights.  I have the regular tights (not the bibs) and they are great.  The block the wind, shed rain and yet vent on the backside where they are fleecy and breathe.  Great design.  They don't have a chamois, so they are perfect to layer over tri shorts or bike shorts or to wear running if it's cold and rainy.

They are a little more expensive, but I use Capo Limited Edition Roubaix.  I use the Knicker version, but they also make a tights version.  I really like the Chamois and I never get cold and I ride late in the winter with them.  If it gets really cold I can add knee warmers.  If you keep your eyes out, you can find them on sale at a good price.  realcyclist.com sometimes has good sales.  I never tired them, but I hear Craft and Gore also makes some nice wind stoppers.  I use craft baselayers and they are great.  They also make a windstopper base layer that I use.

Lots to choose from... Tri-flex from Performance, Gore bikewear... THis is just one place to look.

i picked up some leg warmers with a fleece lining. Wore them today over my Under Armour tights in 37*-45*. some big downhills and this helped keep the legs nice and warm. could have done without I think, but knew I could take off if it got to warm.

this may be another option for you.

I wear my leg warmers and bike shorts, a tight pair of cotton track pants and I have a some insulated tights I wear over both. I had this on today and it was -12 C with the wind and didn't feel the cold at all.

REI makes a great pair of tights, they are just as good as the PI ones at a much cheaper price.  I have worn them in temps down in the single digits without any problems, can't remember the name off the top of my head.

+4 Great to keep the fronts of your legs roasty and toasty.

My wife got me some awesome wind/weather proof bib tights for my birthday in October. It has to be below 30 or they are too warm. I'll check the make/model when I get home.

I love the performance triflex tights - I prefer the bib style, a bit more coverage in the back.  I have ridden with them in temps in the high 20's and have never had any issues.  I also really like their neoprene shoe covers.

I spent a lot of time on this one and jackets too, cause I hate to ride or run inside - makes me feel like a hamster. Aerotech designs power stretch fleece bib tights. $54, made in USA. Available padded or unpadded. Ordered off their website and had within a few days. I've worn down to about 15 degrees and been warm enough. They breathe well too. Aerotech also has some wind pants for even colder weather, if thats your preference.

A cheap alternative is to get a pair of sauna pants and cut them to about capri length.  I go base layer suana pants ( to cut the wind) and a second base layer. 

I've been know to do the same on top.  I cut out all the elastic on the top (swoop neck, 3/4 sleeve, no waist band) By cutting the elastic it allows the rubber (sauna) suit to breath. 

Everytime I wear a normal wind breaker top I feel like Im wearing a parachute.  Going base sauna base allows me to cut the wind and not get that feeling.
