The Three Sisters are EVIL! :-)  You'll love it...and the River Mountain Trail too...whooo hoo!

I didn't realize that this distance is MORE than a HIM, but less than a IM. Interesting. :-)

Not racing it, as you have to qualify, but I definitely will be cheering on the loudest while volunteering on the course.

Here's a video I did of the 3 Sistas affectionately known as the 3 Biotches by us locals.

Here's another  of the last two sans my pain and commentary.

I'm in!  It was my goal last year to qualify and I manage to do that (at Myrtle Beach).  Interesting that the qualifying course was pancake-flat...  I'll definitely be making multiple trips to the mountains this summer.

I'm too chicken to watch the video today...I've a flat aquabike on the weekend.  Then it's time to meet the 3 Sisters.

I predrove the course (minus the sisters as they are on the path) with my non cycling better half last January.  He's commenting on the nice downhills and I'm commenting on the climbing back up those hills!  His perspective is a little different! LOL!

I hope the video scares me properly into finishing out the season strong and motivated!

The video is great - more inspirational than scary to me.  Kick butt out there!

Any suggestions on what cassette to use for the bike?  I am considering putting on a 28.  Thoughts?  I am not familiar with the course.

Amy we run a 26/11 and a 27/11 , I don't think you'll regret having the 28 for the 3 sisters and if you have a headwind on the false flat after the sisters you might be happy to have it there as well.

Good luck!!

I usually ride a 25, but will go with the 28 for this course.  Thanks for the advice!

I'm definitely using my 11-28 for this course.  (I have a double rather than compact up front, making the 28 even more important.)

Anyone from the area that could tell me how windy it usually is out there?

I am wondering if I will bring the disk or my 90mm back wheel for this race.

It is a crap shoot.  It can get very windy in Vegas in the fall (35mph winds with gusts over 40 are not unusual) but it can vary dramatically during the day and the week so it's very hard to predict race day conditions.  I would probably err on the side of caution and go with the 90mm because the difference in performance between the two wheel options is not worth the risk in my opinion....

Best thing is to bring both. We've had this race with almost no winds to a year with 30+ mph in winds. Very unpredictable. Good luck and see you on the water.

Another questions for the folks of Vegas, is there a place where we can swim open water by any chance? If not, any pool where we can swim during our trip before the competition?

Thanks in advance!
