Total Time = 3h 42m 42s
Overall Rank = 673/821
Age Group = F25 - 29
Age Group Rank = 36/47
Pre-race routine:

We walked down from the hotel to transition, racked the bikes and set up.
Event warmup:

Just a paddle in the water. I was ready!
Swim
  • 28m 46s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 55s / 100 meters
Comments:

Smoked it.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 03m 4s
Comments:

I could have gone faster, but it's ok. My bike was in rack 23, so I had a fair way to run. I was scared of slipping in the mud!
What would you do differently?:

Not a lot, it was ok.
Bike
  • 1h 40m 13s
  • 40 kms
  • 23.95 km/hr
Comments:

Straight out of transition into a hill, was gross.
The velco on my left shoe came out of it's hole, so I had to do the first hill without the shoe done up, and spend some time threading it back through while I was riding.
Good thing though, I did use the areo bars a little, and I did manage to stick to my nutrition plan.

the massive hill sucked balls though. although I did go really fast back down it on the other side :)

It started to rain 5km from the end of the ride. I feel down 2.5km from the end of the ride, so I just went the rest of the way with my feet out of the shoes. I am covered in scratches. Didn't tear my suit though, so that was nice.

What would you do differently?:

I just needed no wind.
Transition 2
  • 03m 21s
Comments:

I had to sit down to put my shoes on. By now, my arse hurt, my legs hurt, and I just hurt overall.
I put my number on, grabbed my puffer, and I was out.
What would you do differently?:

Not sit down!!
Run
  • 1h 27m 16s
  • 10 kms
  • 08m 44s  min/km
Comments:

Could have been a drink station right out of transition. If I had have known there wasn't, I would have stopped to have a drink in transition.
I ran the whole way, so that's all that matters!!!
What would you do differently?:

I do need to get faster, but the only time I walked was through aid stations, so I reckon I'm a bit of a rockstar right now.
Post race
Warm down:

I walked around all afternoon and watch the pros. Sunburned :(

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind. Rain. Overall slowness ;)

I came 36/47, but I had the slowest time. So all the people behind me did not finish. And the two girls that finished in front of me passed me only after 7km on the run. So if I can nail the run, I will be all good.

Event comments:

Even though the events on Saturday were cancelled, I think they handled things pretty well.
I think they needed more drink stations around the place, especially for the hacks like me. I struggled the 2.5km between each drink station.

How damn good were you???  You smashed that run - you should be so proud of yourself!
Hope you're feeling OK after the bike spill, and your swim?  Awesome!
So so chuffed for you Jess!

Thanks Nigel, apart from a bit of a tender butt cheek and right ankle, I'm all good I think!
But yeah, a lot happier with the not drowning part of this 1500m swim, especially after my 35min + DNF at Sandy... onwards and upwards from here!
I don't think I'll ever be fast, but I can definitely finish. And I wasn't the slowest

You came off the bike and still ran the whole course!? You definitely deserve to feel a little bit o' rockstar!

That road is a tough one, from memory not all that smooth, so combined with the weather conditions you've done really well. Congratulations!!

Casie, I forgot to write that part down.
Maaaaan, the road was rough. I was so scared of getting another flat!!!

It started raining right when I hit the last windy bit through the botanic gardens, so rough road + rain + corner = me on my butt... I don't have a bruise, but I sure so have a really sore arse.
And the run course had like 2 hills right at the start, I honestly thought I was going to keel over... but I kept running. So I totally have no excuse now.
Maybe I need to go for a long, hard, hilly bike ride before all my runs.

It was so lonely though, between km 6 and 8, I saw NO ONE and it was hard. I got called names by a couple of kids past the skate park as well, so it was all I could do not to react to that....

Awesome effort! Olympic distance races are deceptively hard work, you did so well, especially with the bad weather and falling off, way to go! Onwards and upwards :-)
