Run
Comments: I ran the first 6 miles with Lisa and we took it pretty easy which allowed me to speed up a little in the middle running steadily until the marathon mark, then slowing down some in the last few miles, but still I was thrilled to only walk the aid stations. My left leg really acted up around mile 7 onward, but I stopped to stretch my calves fairly frequently which surprisingly helped for a "non-calf" injury. My inner ankle tendons and behind my right knee bothered me a little too, but I kept convincing myself that all of those things were minor and that I actually felt pretty good and have in the past felt much, much worse. There wasn't a "wall" or even a stiffening of muscles that tends to happen at the end of runs. What would you do differently?: I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. I didn't quite "leave it all on the course", but did give a solid effort without wimping out too much at the end. Post race
Event comments: This fir perfectly into my 50 mile training plan so I was glad to have it go so well! Last updated: 2010-09-23 12:00 AM

Went to Fort Worth with Lisa. This was supposed to be her first 50k until she got injured (sniff, sniff) and I was going to run it with her.
Race morning woke up at 4:30 to get ready and catch the 5:15 shuttle a block away. Ate a Clif and a Mojo bar inside the expo building and drank 2 Diet Cokes.
