Sunny
Total Time = 2h 41m 46s
Overall Rank = 28/166
Age Group = Women's 40 - 44
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Put body glide on the legs, neck, belly. Set my transition area up, pictured in my head how I am to do my transition. Also, ate a Power Harvest Bar and drank water (slowly up until 45 minutes before race start)
Event warmup:

Gentle stretching, Did a few practice swims with running up onto the beach unzipping and taking the top of the wetsuit down.
Swim
  • 30m 8s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m / 100 meters
Comments:

The first straightaway was easier than after the first turn. That's when I really had people swimming into me.
What would you do differently?:

Get my butt in gear during swim practice so I'd be ahead of those guys who were running into me today!
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

Cobblestone streets for several hundred yards at the start of the bike. Made it hard to get my feet into the shoes on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Always try to be a little faster. Went pretty smooth, though.
Bike
  • 1h 19m 16s
  • 40 kms
  • 30.28 km/hr
Comments:

Mostly on good pavement, but a few cobblestone areas, especially in downtown area.
What would you do differently?:

I was so concerned with staying comfortable, I'm not sure if I should've gone a little harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

Riding on the cobblestones for a few hundred yards before dismount line. Was only able to get one foot out of shoe before the line, so I had to stop bike and get my foot out standing still.
What would you do differently?:

Not talk myself out of checking out the whole bike course. I would've known the cobblestones would be at the end as well and gotten my feet out sooner.
Run
  • 48m 53s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

I was very happy with the consistency. Ran with a friend who's about the same speed as me. We are always very close together at the finishes. She beat me out by 3 seconds today. Mile 1)7:49; 2)7:46; 3)7:48; 4)7:47; 5)8:01; 6)8:00; 6.2)1:40.
What would you do differently?:

Somehow my holster carrying my flask of Power Gel fell off in transition. Shortly after I got out onto the course I realized it was missing. I don't think it killed me not to have it, but I would've liked to have it.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Drank some Endurox. Gentle stretching. After a while had some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I don't think I could've gone any faster if I tried.

Event comments:

I had a great time. It wasn't just a race. It was an entire weekend event. I would highly recommend this race to anyone interested in doing olympic distance.

Awsome job Sharon, Looks like it was a little toasty this weekend. Did that affect your time at all?

Thanks everyone.  No, Kevin, 85 deg. isn't really hot as long as the breeze is still cool.  Don't forget, I live further south than even this race!  I'm used to it.

Great report Sharon. I'm not sure I could run those splits even WITHOUT the swim and bike legs!
