Subject: Lactate threshold tests in middle of IM training Hi all-- I am interested in your opinions on doing LT tests for the run and bike. I have done the tests over a year ago and I know I need to determine my current zones. Right now I am on week 8 of the 30 week Be Iron Fit Plan for IM Louisville. Things are going well except for my lack of desire to swim--different subject. As many of you know, this plan calls for training in particular zones for both the bike and the run. Right now I am going off RPE as I know my zones that I set last year are off. With that said, how would you go about fitting in the zone tests and my normal training? My thoughts are to skip a run session this week and do the run LT test. Then next week skip a bike session and do the bike LT test. If I go this route, I am going to be sure the LT tests will be done on days that I don't swim and also in the middle of the week so as to not interfere with my longer run and ride on the weekend. Does this sound like a good idea? Do you have any other suggestions? thanks, Nathan |
