What swim paddles do you strong swimmers prefer??

Just about any of them work for me, I prefer ones that have a hand "shape" to them. Tyr makes a very nice paddle. If you haven't used them in a long time, then I'd recommend getting the pair that is basically the same size as your hand. The larger the paddle, the bigger the stress on the shoulders.

ok good. that was my thinking. "bigger paddle = more stress". my rotator cuffs would rather not get destroyed anymore, high school was rough on them haha.

i was looking at TYR Catalyst yesterday, and the sizes were based on swimming prowess.  from beginner (small) to extra large...below are the descriptions:

XS(1) Young age group (8-12 yrs)
S (2) Older age group(12+ yrs), beginning masters
M (3) Older high school males, Sr. National females, triathletes, mid-level masters
L (4) Strong collegiate swimmers, Sr. National males, advanced triathletes, water aerobics - avg to large males
XL(5) Very strong swimmers, water aerobics. Strong avg. to large males. These are very big paddles

awesome. so far TYR is looking like a good starting place.

Strong swimmer here.    I love my training toys, but paddles are not amongst them.    Without them I am still flirting with shoulder injury.  I know if I use them I will for sure injure myself.  

At my age injury prevention is a foremost consideration.

One think that I saw in your post was your desire to increase turnover.  Why?  Are you getting everything out of the stroke that you have now?  If not you are just burning energy with a small return for speed.  Stroke form would be the first thing that I would look at.  If your have great stroke form, the yes, the increae in turnover would be a boost.  

The ones you were born with will be the most effective.  After that, Strokemakers are the best

yes i have maximized my stroke as it is. i'm working on a little faster turnover, stronger kick, and overall strength in my arms.

Good idea. I suppose making a fist would suffice, too.

It is my opinion of course. I have used several and find the Strokemakers do the best job of working on all of the things that you use paddles for. You can't use bad technique with them, they force your hands into the water a specific way.
