Comments:

Kicked in too early at the false finish, but kept eye on staying around 9 min/mile pace. Tried holding back a little at the beginning to sustain pace throughout.

L5: 8:57
L6: 8:56

What would you do differently?:

Need to work on mile 4 . . . always lose a lot of pace at that juncture. Despite the course being long, made a friend along the way and we kept each other motivated. Thank you Sara!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike chain. Grrrr.

Event comments:

Olympic + sprint had 3,500 participants. I would not come back in later summer for the Nation's Tri where I've heard there can be 6,000. Not worth the aggravation of a congested course.

It is logistically challenging because start and finish are in 2 different locations. Had to take shuttle from finish to transition and bike several miles back to car. Also, rack bikes on Saturday.

Course: lots of daisy loops, include multiple ones right near finish . . . so you think you're finishing . . . and you're not. Plus course was 6.8 and not 6.2. It was basically flat except for some minor inclines. This year they did not include the hill on Constitution Ave near the Capitol.

Nice job!  I agree - the finish did seem long and tricky.

I agree on the crowding on the bike course, especially on the second lap when the Oly and Sprint participants were sharing the road. But I thought that for the most part folks did a fairly good job of staying further right except when passing.

I hate to be a downer, but I really don't think the run course was long, and certainly not by 0.6 miles. The faster times don't support that. Also, the organizers put up a map of the course on mapmyrun.com, and the Google Map distance comes out just right.

Good job on the race!
