Swim
Comments: Good swim. But I get tired doing freestyle and have to switch to breastroke. Must work on this. At end was doing 10 strokes of freestyle to 20 strokes of breastroke. Could tell when I did freestyle - surged past other swimmers. 8 oz of water while waiting for start. What would you do differently?: Try to complete the full 1500m using more freestyle stroke. Need to simulate no resting in the pool either doing flip turns (yuck) or not touching the wall. Need to do more extended sets at least 2 x week. If hot & humid take in more liquid in the morning and just hope I don't have to pee during the race. Transition 1
Comments: Seemed to go okay. Everything laid out nicely. No big mistakes. Actually got the wetsuit off with little problem. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: Worked pretty hard on the bike. Had hoped for a better average. Did not drink enough given the heat and this showed up during the run. Think some harder training and a new bike might be in order. What would you do differently?: Get more fluids in. Watch my cadence. Did not have this working for this race. Transition 2
Comments: Seemed to go well. What would you do differently?: Might get some of those "Yanks" shoe laces. Run
Comments: Where to start. Oh so hard. Exhausted absolutely by the end. Not what I planned or expected. Tired from the get go. My shoulders were so tired (even hurt) they impacted my run. Think this was from full swim in wetsuit. Hot & humid weather took its toll. Poured water over me from aid stations. Walked quite a bit. What would you do differently?: Hydrate better. Make sure shoulders are ready for wetsuit swim. Visualize the run more. Keep up run training (this faltered during the last several weeks). Do more bike/run bricks. Post race
Warm down: Just looked for the gear tent. Changed. Very, very tired. Probably should have sat down longer after finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hydration, heat, and shoulder tiredness during the run. Event comments: Logistics are hard. Packet pick up one place, bike racking another place, no parking. Finish line two miles from transition. Walked the two miles. Last updated: 2011-01-04 12:00 AM

Banana, Power Bar, & cup of coffee for breakfast. No real routine. Got to transition area 1 hour before 1st wave. Restroom 30 minutes before 1st wave - could have waited a bit.
None.
