Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Loading the car at 5am. shaking my daughter to get up "cause we're going to be late". Going over directions to the race location, etc.
Swim
  • 08m 57s
  • 250 yards
  • 03m 35s / 100 yards
What would you do differently?:

Not wear the loose fitting technical shirt I had on.
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Still have not mastered jumping on the bike and really need to work on this. I have the "Look" style cleats and these are really slippery when trying to click in. It really has to be better to have the shoes already clicked in and struggle a bit to get your foot in while moving that what I did this time.
What would you do differently?:

Practice mounting and dis-mounting with the shoes already clicked into the pedals.
Bike
  • 43m 15s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Overall rank on the bike was 159 out of 229.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure to use your pre-race checklist and especially make sure to PUT THE TIRE PUMP IN THE GEAR BAG! About 1 mile into the bike leg I realized I'd left the tire pump home and was racing on half flat tires.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Relay race with my daughter ... she grabbed the timing chip and was off to the races :)
Run
  • 28m 34s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 13s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

This was my youngest daughters FIRST participation with a Tri. She had a ball and really enjoyed teaming up with me in the race. She's 23 years old and was amazed at the athletes out there, twice her age, who blew by her.
Post race
Event comments:

The one negative for me was the free food afterwards was a Taco Bell truck. I'm trying not to appear unappreciative here, but come'on TACO BELL - really!
There were snacks such as bananas, peanut butter, etc but you could literally smell the grease in the air from the TB truck.

Sorry I did notget to meet you. Great race. I would not sweat the cleats on the pedals just yet. Practice clciking in and out will get you most of the way there. Getting into your shoes when they are already attacched comes with its own problems.
