Comments:

My best swim so far - defied the coaches' advice to stay to the right and hug the shore. Buoys are all on the left, so I started far left, and went out hard. Athenas were grouped with women 50-54, so I knew that I could be competitive enough to start aggressively. Although it was my best time on that short course by 2+ minutes and I was 1st in my division, I still think I could've gone harder. My goal was to hit 20 minutes, and I'll be aiming for that in Iron Girl (same course) in 2 months. I think that's realistic.
What would you do differently?:

Navigation was a bit off at the start - not by a whole lot, but still... I do think I can cut another 2 minutes, especially with 2 healthy shoulders.

ok, that really sucked. Need to work on that :)
Bike

Comments:

My best speed on that course, and I'm really not at full strength, so I'm pretty pleased. Don't think I could've done much better. My goal is to someday finish that ride in an hour....
What would you do differently?:

Not much. used all 3 big rings when I needed to, tried not to mash on the big hills, and it worked as well as I needed it too. Do want to practice riding without socks, and Mike said he thinks he can make adjustments to Bikey to fit him to me better. Even said he can tinker enough that I can probably ride without gloves (if I don't have the gloves now, my hands go numb pretty quickly).
Transition 2
  • 01m 52s
Comments:

Not sure I could've gone faster. Stopped to grab the garmin, put it on on the run. Even got in a good quick stretch, and legs were strong enough to run out of transition
Run
  • 40m 41s
  • 3.4 miles
  • 11m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

Running just sucks. I was thinking that most when I was spotted by Team Fighters, and their cheering was just awesome in helping me over the hump. My avg pace turned out to be faster than I'd thought it would be - there was a lot of walking, but probably more running than before. Only a little cramping in my knees. Legs (and hip!) actually felt OK, but the biggest problem was catching my breath - just couldn't, couldn't get my HR down. Want to practice running that course more after hard rides...
What would you do differently?:

run more, lol
Post race
Warm down:

should've stretched, but too excited to. Some young guy ran past me in the chute, so I started sprinting (don't pass me dammit). Was flying til I thought I was going to hurl my lungs & intestines about 5 yards from the finish and had to slow down. Felt good anyway :). Ate, drank, stayed for awards, and then was only 2 hours late to the in-laws' wedding.....

What limited your ability to perform faster:

my body!

Event comments:

Love this race - it was my 1st. Felt badly for the organizers that the registration numbers were so low, bc it was such a great day. Bummed my favorite tri buddies weren't racing, but having the club & teammates there was just awesome. I felt on top of the world - pretty cool when lumpy middle aged moms can make it on the podium!

You can't control who shows up at a given race. You DID show up, nailed the course, and it is awesome that you placed. Of course, next year you have to go for first.
