What are the best tires for these Arizona hot roads. Looking for a nice durable, smooth riding tire. Thanks.

I've had the best luck with Continental Gatorskins. They are hard for me to find in 650's so I have Continental 4000 on the rear just now and that has been good too.

For training I use the GP4000S or Vittoria Rubino. A good number of people use Gatorskins or something similar for extra puncture resistance. For racing, I use Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX.

I use Specialized Armadillos on my road bike, which I only ride in training, and GP4000's on my tri bike for races.  I used to use Vittorio Pro Slicks on my bike for training but found I was constantly changing tubes.  Could have been bad luck, but the Armadillos have held up well and the GP4000's are excellent.

GP4000S here too.  Although my Trek SC came with Bontrager R1 Plus tires... way smoother and transmit less vibration than my GP4000s.  The R1s might go back on soon!

I have been happy with both the Armadillos and Conti 4000s.  I don't think you can go wrong with either. :>

I had a combination of Continental Gator Skin tires and Thorn resistant tubes, which are 4x thicker than regular tubes (don't race in them), an I didn't flat for 18 months. Those tubes also hold pressure better, so you won't need to in top them off as often.

I've moved to the Gatorskin Hardshells, stiff as a rock but very flat resistant. To the OP, heat isn't a contributing factor to flats in AZ, it's all the debris from construction, thorns and cactus bits from the deserrt, ect, littering the roads that's the problem here.
