I've gotta say, I think there's more to the story. I read it twice and don't get why you'd be that enraged over something like this. No offense, but I just don't get it. Mountains, meet mole hill.

Maybe I'm just irritated becuase he was acting like jerk.  I dunno...I just hate when guys try to tell that doing tri's or marathons is wrong.  He told me one time (previously) that I wouldn't be able to be as active when I'm married.  True, to an extent.  I probably won't be able to do multiple races each month and will have to cut back some when I settle down, but come on.  Who wouldn't want their spose to be active and fit??  I've had another guy tell me the same thing too, except he said I wouldn't be able to go the gym.  What's up with these guys?  I think I'm just more frustrated because I hear things like that all the time.  Hence, my patience wears thin when it comes to this topic.  Or maybe it's just complete personality clash- that could be it too.  Who knows??  Let me just sign up for IM FL now to feel better

max - 2005-09-07 2:23 PM LOL...sorry...Look at Weshy's comments a few posts back about "they should stop trying to be men." I thought perhaps he wanted it to come out as "they should stop trying to be me!" It wasn't a typo from you...I guess I'm not thinking straight today!

You just made my day!  I thought it was me- my typing sucks!

maybe irritating you is just his way trying to get you to think about him?

K (the previously mentioned man) used to call me up on my drive to work just to start an argument and when I would see him later during the day he would ask me if I thought about him all day..  he did a lot of weird things to get my attention..

Oh no- don't tell me that.  This guy loves debating.  I am telling you, he'll pick and find something, ANYTHING to debate about.  It gets old.  I can see maybe talking or debating about policitcal or worldy issues, but not just anything.  It's sooo annoying!  Not my cup of tea.

I can't tell you the number of women I went through before I found one that understood my need to hunt and fish. It will happen, until then just direct your energies into your training.

Good Luck,

Yeah, come to think of it Janelle, you need better scenery around you. Now if I were just 30 years younger...and single...and living in Georgia. You could swim, bike, and run faster than me 7 days a week and I'd be plenty happy to have someone who likes doing the things I love to do. Bottom line is, this guy sounds like a jerk. He needs to have an affair with his tire inflator.

Ditto what Max said, except I am 30 and you can (probably, I'm sure) bike, swim, and run faster than me!

Honestly, he sounds like he's just the bitter "wishes-he-was" - he's upset about him not being the guy you want to date.  I think most of us on this board who are single would want to find someone who either a) supports our hobby 100% or b) participates in it at the same level we do.

Good luck, Janelle!  Too bad I don't live in Augusta!

All arguments can be resolved with a strategic blow of a bike pump either to the head or into the spokes of the offending idiot, you choose!!!

well, speaking as a very happily married person who does tris...he's nuts! granted, i'm unemployed, so i have lots of time to train during the day (my employ is being mom). if i was working AND training, it might be more of an issue, but i know many people make it work. the main thing is that your partner needs to be supportive, and better still, also be active. my husband doesn't do tris, but he LOVES biking and is trying running. i should say, that he wanted to do a century this year and we decided that it would take too much time away from family. instead we did a duathlon together (i ran, he biked) and some other shorter rides. once the kids are older doing longer training rides will be easier, since we can do it together w/o having to have the kids along in the burley. anyway, i'm rambling. i would have been mad too.

...Anytime he asks me how things are going, I deliberately let him know that I signed up for a new race because I know it makes him mad- ha,ha!

And yet you probably think he's immature. Sounds like you both have your issues.
