Subject: RE: Tri the Parks Triathlon - Richard B. Russell State Park : Official Thread did some recon up there today. let me know if you have any course questions anyone. water was bearable but on the warmer side.lots of dogs out on the bike. hopefully they get taken inside or run off by the bike leaders. several areas of full sun on the run. keys are to rack in easy gear as t1 leads you up a hill and out of the park is another climb. this is not a fast bike. its a one big loop course.work the easy gears to conserve somewhat on the climbs. it is rarely flat for very long, lots of false flats and light declines. a few gradual climbs that are a pain.straight downhill into the t2 can get a bit hairy if you are not paying attention. the run is a two loop and starts off on a tight trail that is overgrown at the moment. then about a .5 mi or so in you are on a lightly rolling out and back run along a golf course. duck when you see golf balls. finish is the straight downhill that leads you into t2 so hammer that. its pretty much full sun afterwards unless you can find a tree, of which there are not many. so if you are hanging around for awards, be prepared for full sun. hydrate well beforehand. |
